Maria Shriver steps out in LA after the death of her aunt Ethel Kennedy aged 96

On a recent Saturday, Maria Shriver made an appearance in Los Angeles, following the demise of her aunt Ethel Kennedy at the age of 96, which occurred just two days prior.
68-year-old Shriver chose to forgo makeup while running her daily errands following a heartfelt tribute to Bobby Kennedy’s wife last week.
Arnold Schwarzenegger’s former wife donned a navy blouse, paired it with a black coat, and added a vibrant long skirt; she completed the outfit with white and gray trainers.
Her brunette locks were styled in a chic half updo as she chatted on the phone.
Following Ethel’s death on Thursday, Shriver, who is the daughter of Bobby Kennedy and Eunice Kennedy, his sister, expressed a touching tribute to the champion of human rights.
She wrote: ‘My aunt, Ethel Kennedy passed this morning. What a life she led. What a huge family she created and leaves behind. I’m so glad I was able to laugh with her this summer, to share memories with her.
She was an exceptional sister-in-law to my mother, a unique aunt to me and my cousins. She was brave, humorous, intelligent, an outstanding athlete, passionate about her country, deeply in love with Uncle Bobby, and dedicated to improving our nation in all aspects.
‘She was a woman of deep faith. When it got tough, and there were a lot of tough times, she dug in. She relied on her faith like my own mother.
As an ardent admirer, I find myself captivated by this dynamic duo. Their strength and determination are truly inspiring, leaving me speechless. Each chapter of their lives seems like its own novel, brimming with lessons that resonate deeply within me. Trying to encapsulate their life in a mere caption feels like an impossible task.
Dear Ethel, I’m deeply fond of you. May your journey be blessed, Ethel. And to all my dear cousins, let my affection for you know no bounds, today and every day.
Ethel had suffered a stroke in her sleep last week and was rushed to hospital.
She was one of the last links to the ‘Camelot’ era of JFK’s presidency.
Among her eleven children, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., was the one who launched a prominent presidential bid as an independent contender in the year 2024. However, in August of the same year, he shifted his support to Donald Trump by giving him an endorsement.
His stance on vaccines and his political campaign sparked disagreements within the Kennedy family. Some relatives criticized him and backed the chosen Democrat instead.
However, Ethel Kennedy never commented publicly on her son’s actions.
Kennedy was widowed at the age of 40 when Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated.
She stood next to her husband at the time he was mortally wounded in the kitchen of the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles on June 5, 1968, moments after securing victory in the California Democratic primary election.
She was pregnant with their youngest child at the time.
It was among a series of devastating tragedies for her family.
Ethel’s brother was former President John F. Kennedy, who was killed in Dallas approximately five years prior.
In the years 1955, 1966, and later on, unfortunate events struck her family: her parents passed away in a plane crash, her brother met his end in another crash, her son David Kennedy succumbed to a drug overdose, son Michael Kennedy met an accident while skiing, and nephew John F. Kennedy Jr. suffered the same fate in a plane crash.
After her husband was killed, she chose not to remarry and instead devoted the remainder of her life to charitable work and causes such as gun safety regulations.
She established the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights and dedicated herself relentlessly towards promoting global peace.
She typically spent her summer vacations at a well-known estate in Hyannis Port, Cape Cod, which belonged to her family, and kept herself away from the limelight in general.
