Margot Robbie’s new movie A Big Bold Beautiful Journey receives ‘brutal’ reviews from critics who slam ‘insufferable romantic fantasy’

Despite Margot’s stunning outfits, her new film is receiving very negative reviews from critics.

Critics have shared their opinions on the new romantic comedy starring A-list actors. The film centers around Sarah and David, who first connect at a wedding and then embark on a magical journey where they revisit important moments from their shared history.

The movie ‘A Big Bold Beautiful Journey’ has received mostly negative reviews, scoring 56% on Rotten Tomatoes and 39 on Metacritic, indicating generally unfavorable opinions.

Director Kogonada is known for his critically praised films, including his first movie, *Columbus* from 2017, and *After Yang* from 2021, which also starred Colin Farrell.

I’ve seen some pretty harsh criticism, and one review was particularly blunt – they called it visually stunning, but ultimately, really boring. It’s a tough one, because a lot of hype built up, and it just didn’t deliver the impact people were expecting.

In a review for Indiewire, Ryan Lattanzio criticized the film’s romantic and fantastical elements, suggesting they didn’t quite work. While acknowledging director Kogonada’s talent, Lattanzio ultimately felt the film suffered from a weak script that Kogonada chose to work with.

In a review for The Wrap, William Bibbiani titled ‘Colin Farrell and Margot Robbie Can’t Save This Insufferable Romantic Fantasy,’ he suggests that casting Colin Farrell and Margot Robbie, while seemingly a great idea for a romantic fantasy film, ultimately didn’t work.

However, the actors needed something substantial to work with. Otherwise, they’re just on screen, trying to elevate weak material.

In a review for Variety, Tomris Laffly noted that while the film has some nice visual effects and charming musical moments, and occasionally features impressive sights, it ultimately ends up being quite dull.

In a review for Screendaily, Nikki Baughan commented on the actors’ chemistry, noting that Margot Robbie and Colin Farrell are a visually appealing couple with clear sparks between them. However, she felt the film tries too hard to be charming, ultimately becoming overly sentimental and cloying.

Margot Robbie’s new project, A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, marks her first work since the hugely successful Barbie movie, in which she played the lead role and also served as a producer through her production company, LuckyChap.

Colin has expressed similar positive feelings, saying it was ‘a dream’ to work with Margot from beginning to end.

With the release of ‘A Big Bold Beautiful Journey’, Margot Robbie is heading into another packed schedule. She’ll soon be promoting ‘Wuthering Heights’, Emerald Fennell’s new film adaptation, which is set to be released in theaters in February.
