Ant and Dec shared that Cara Delevingne messaged them on social media, hoping they’d record a birthday message for Margot Robbie, who is a big fan of theirs.
Cara, age 33, contacted the TV hosts, who are both 50, because she was going to a birthday party for the Barbie actress, age 35, and wanted to arrange a surprise gift.
Ant and Dec initially thought someone was joking with them. They were surprised to learn Margot Robbie was a genuine fan, and they also questioned if the messages they received from Cara Delevingne were actually from her.
On their new podcast, ‘Hanging Out with Ant and Dec,’ Dec shared that they recently recorded a birthday message for Margot Robbie.
You won’t believe this! I just got the sweetest message from Cara Delevingne on Instagram. She’s heading to Margot Robbie’s birthday party and asked if I could record a quick video for Margot – apparently, Margot’s a big fan of our work! It’s such a fun surprise, and I’m happy to help celebrate Margot’s special day.
Ant admitted: ‘We thought it was a wind up to start with’.
Dec went on to say they were wondering if the person they were interacting with was actually Cara Delevingne, and if she was genuinely discussing Margot Robbie and expressing her fandom.
‘So anyway we confirmed it was the real Cara Delevingne and she assured us it wasn’t a joke.’
Ant added: ‘We did it at the England game, the Euros Final at Wembley’.
The hosts mentioned that Margot is in the UK promoting a new version of Wuthering Heights, and playfully suggested they might have been able to meet her.
‘We were on Graham Norton three weeks too early’, Dec said.
Ant quipped that his friend would have been delighted by the news, as she’s a huge fan. He added that it would have excited her even more than it would have excited them to be on the Graham Norton show together.
Ant & Dec shared a message on Instagram saying they were sorry they missed Margot and announced that the latest episode of their show, ‘Hanging Out With Ant & Dec,’ is now available.
This follows Ant and Dec sharing the story of their surprising and ‘awkward’ night spent sleeping over at King Charles’s Scottish home, Dumfries House.
The two filmmakers, while shooting a documentary about the Prince at the time, shared that they unexpectedly ran into him while wearing their dressing gowns. They were later told to be quieter when they were celebrating in their room.
Appearing on The Graham Norton Show, Ant shared a funny story: they had spent a year filming with what was then Prince Charles and become quite friendly with him.
They offered us the chance to stay overnight at the house before the final interview, and honestly, we jumped at it! It was everything we’d hoped for – truly incredible.
I quickly slipped on the robe in my room and hurried out into the hallway, hoping to find Dec. That’s when I bumped into the Prince! He greeted me with a simple ‘Hello,’ and then, of all things, started chatting about how to prune roses. I was mortified, honestly – it was such an awkward moment.
And that wasn’t the end of it, as Dec jokingly explained. They had wine in their room and things got a little loud, to the point where they received a request to keep it down!
Ant and Dec explained they started their podcast, ‘Hanging Out With Ant & Dec,’ as a way to continue collaborating despite their hectic lives with their families.
Dec explained that because they both have young children and live some distance from each other, scheduling a podcast gives them a guaranteed reason to meet up. He added that they’ve known each other for a long time, enjoy making each other laugh, and hope listeners will enjoy that dynamic too.
Honestly, I overheard that Dec and Ant’s wives – Ali and Anne-Marie – were a little nervous about the podcast. They thought the boys might spill everything – you know, be way too open and honest and just reveal all their secrets! It’s so cute they’re worried about being too real, but also, I need all the behind-the-scenes details, so… a little honesty is good, right?
This follows Dec’s announcement that he’s aiming to get in shape this year. He admitted on the podcast’s first episode that his attempt to give up alcohol only lasted eight days.
The father of two admitted his New Year’s resolution didn’t last long – just eight days, in fact. He said he had a glass of wine after his children, having returned to school after a break, became particularly wild.
Dec admitted he’d tried to get in shape earlier this year, but it almost didn’t happen. He attempted ‘Dry January’ – giving up alcohol for the month – as a start, but only managed to last a week.
He explained that things didn’t go as planned because he had a really difficult day with his children. He said they’d been acting wild and unruly ever since.
After the New Year, when the kids returned to school for their first week, I was glad to see them get back into a good routine and have some structure in their lives. I thought it would be a positive change.
The kids were really wild all week, and the weekend just fell apart. I’d planned to do Dry January, but after getting them to bed on Saturday night, I ended up opening a bottle of wine.
Ant, age 50, playfully congratulated the person, saying, ‘That’s fantastic! I’m so proud of you.’ He added that, having been sober for almost eight years himself, he was especially impressed with their first eight days of sobriety.
Dec shares two children with his wife Ali; daughter Isla, seven, and son Jack, three.
Hey everyone! I’m so excited to share that the ‘Hanging Out With Ant & Dec’ podcast is officially out! You can listen on all your favorite podcast apps, and for those who like to watch their podcasts, you can find it on Spotify and Belta Box. Definitely check it out – it’s a fun one!
