Margot Robbie addresses full-frontal nude scene in iconic movie role
As a gamer with a keen interest in films and their behind-the-scenes stories, I found Margot Robbie’s account of her role in “The Wolf of Wall Street” utterly captivating. Having grown up on movies like this one, where actors often push boundaries to deliver raw and authentic performances, it’s fascinating to hear the thought processes that go into such decisions.
Margot Robbie has opened up about her full-frontal nude scene in 2013’s The Wolf of Wall Street.
Under the guidance of director Martin Scorsese, the movie titled “The Wolf of Wall Street” featured Robbie in a starring role, where she portrayed Jordan Belfort’s wife, Naomi Lapaglia, opposite Leonardo DiCaprio who played the character of Jordan Belfort.
On the Talking Pictures podcast, hosted by Ben Mankiewicz from Turner Classic Movies, Robbie reminisced about his memorable portrayal of that legendary character.
In this movie, serving as Robbie’s breakthrough performance, she bravely agreed to perform an unclothed scene in its entirety. She disclosed that she advocated for this choice after the director proposed a different alternative.
Following Scorsese’s suggestion for Robbie to use a robe during an uncomfortable scene to maintain her modesty, Robbie expressed that such a move wouldn’t align with the character’s authenticity.
However, in that situation, she wouldn’t behave as you think. The crux of the scene is that she will reveal herself entirely – that’s her current strategy,” Robbie explained.
During the audition, Robbie clarified that she altered a scene where her character was initially supposed to kiss DiCaprio upon his character’s command. Instead, she made adjustments to the scene.
She pondered, “If I were to kiss Leonardo DiCaprio at this moment, it would be fantastic! I can hardly wait to share this with my friends.” But then she hesitated and instead playfully slapped him. The room fell quiet for what seemed like an eternity yet was likely only three seconds.
After the impromptu moment, Robbie commented that DiCaprio and Scorsese found it amusing, expressing it as: “They both couldn’t help but laugh. Leonardo and Martin were laughing heartily. They told me, ‘That was fantastic.’
After choosing to strike her co-star rather than kiss him, Robbie expressed that she had thought to herself: “I’m almost certain I’ve committed assault or battery, and if so, I’ll probably be arrested. Not only will my career likely be ruined, but I could even end up in jail for this foolish act. And why did I have to hit him so forcefully? I should have gone easier.
