I’ve been watching For All Mankind season 4, and it’s amazing to see Margo teaming up with the Russians in space. It allowed her to come back to the US with diplomatic immunity, which meant she didn’t have to immediately face the consequences of her actions. What I really loved was seeing her reconnect with Aleida Rosales, someone she used to mentor and who was a close friend.

Following a strained reconnection, Aleida finally understands the genuine hardship Margo endured while trying to assist others, a situation that placed Margo in considerable danger. They then team up to support their friends on Mars. Their successful theft and redirection of a large meteor – diverting it from a collision course with the Moon to orbit Mars – could have landed Aleida in serious trouble with the US government.

Margo took full blame for what happened and was immediately sent to a US prison, as shown in the first episode of For All Mankind season 5. Surprisingly, she’s actually living a more comfortable life in prison than she was before.

Margo Madison Previously Lived As A Refugee In Russia

Margo had been led to believe she’d be working with the Russian Space Program, a dream opportunity that aligned with her lifelong passion. However, instead of fulfilling that promise, she was kept uninformed, secretly monitored, and constantly asked to be patient for news that never came.

The updates finally arrived after a shift in the country’s leadership, resulting in Margo’s imprisonment without any trial or reason given. While imprisoned, she suffered beatings and torture, and her situation steadily deteriorated.

After Margo escaped, Irina Morozova befriended her, hoping to benefit from Margo’s abilities and what she knew from the inside.

The Prison System In The US Is Still More Comfortable Than Her Life In Russia

Even though Margo felt settled in Russia – enjoying daily walks, talking with people, and even indulging in fresh pastries while working at Roscosmos – she was constantly under surveillance. It turned out that Irina Morozova, a former KGB leader, had previously been Sergei Nikulov’s handler, and was now watching Margo.

Irina not only ordered Sergei’s murder, but she also callously used Margo, discarding her whenever she was no longer needed. It appears Margo would rather serve time in a US prison than return to her life in Russia.

Margo now has simple freedoms she lacked before, like being able to see friends during visiting hours without worrying about government harassment or dangerous people like Irina Morozova. While things aren’t ideal, she finally has a life worth living, a significant improvement over her previous existence in the world of For All Mankind.
