Margaret Qualley reveals she is trying to set mom Andie MacDowell with this 90s A-list star

Margaret Qualley revealed the A-list actor she is trying to set up with her mother Andie MacDowell.

On a recent visit to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the 30-year-old actress admitted that she’s been acting as a matchmaker because her mother is currently unattached.

During a late-night chat show, she admitted something to Fallon, as they engaged in a game of truth or dare.

She mentioned on the show that she had attempted to matchmake Bill Murray with her mother at one point. However, Fallon speculated that this wasn’t true because they had already portrayed romantic interests in a film together.

In the past, MacDowell, who was 67 years old, and Murray, aged 74, acted together in the 1993 fantasy romantic comedy film titled Groundhog Day.

In my own words, I want to share that recently, I discovered that the star from Honey Don’t was indeed speaking truthfully. You see, just moments ago, while we were both in her backstage dressing room, she attempted to arrange a meeting between her mom and Murray.

During our conversation off-stage, she mentioned that she discovered Murray resides in Charleston – the South Carolina city where her mother relocated following her transformation into an empty nester.

‘He’s sporting a shirt from the Piggly Wiggly store. Given that I hail from North Carolina, I recognize that Piggly Wiggly is a regional phenomenon in the South. It seems correct to me, and since there was one near where I grew up, it brought back memories like, “Ah, Piggly Wiggly!”‘

‘Then, cut to I find out he’s living in Charleston. My mom’s living in Charleston,’ she continued.

In our electric exchange, I reminisced about Murray casually revealing that our collaboration on set between him and MacDowell was nothing short of a rollercoaster ride!

He casually mentioned that his working relationship with your mother during the filming of the movie wasn’t very smooth. He also shared anecdotes about her spending a considerable amount of time on her hairdo and once struggling to remember her lines.

Later on, Qualley retorted swiftly with the remark: “Indeed, I said something along the lines of, ‘I had heard another version of events, sir.’

She then explained how she got the idea to help them reconnect and potentially set them up. 

She explained, “It turns out that there seems to be a deep animosity between them, yet he might be trying to reconcile.

‘And I’m like, she’s single, he’s single. They’re both crazy. Let’s get it together.’

The nepo baby said she was now waiting for him to reach out. 

I told him to get back in touch with me, so I can give him my mother’s number if he wants to connect. If he has any common sense, he’ll consider himself the luckiest man on earth.

In the filming of their 1993 romantic comedy Groundhog Day, MacDowell and Murray had a challenging working relationship, as Murray’s character was a weather reporter trapped reliving the same day over and over again.

In the film, MacDowell portrayed his character as the producer, and as the story and the day kept repeating, they found themselves developing romantic feelings for each other.

MacDowell was previously married to her second husband Rhett Hartzog from 2001 to 2004. 

I’ve been blissfully hitched to my first love and the doting dad of my precious brood, Paul Qualley, from 1986 right up until 1999.

Apart from having a shared past as a model and rancher, they also have three children together – Justin Qualley (aged 39), Rainey Qualley (aged 36), and their youngest, Margaret Qualley.

Between 1981 and 1996, Bill was wedded to Margaret Kelly, followed by his second marriage to the late costume designer Jennifer Butler, which lasted from 1997 until 2008.

The two-time Golden Globe winner is the father of six sons, two born from his first marriage and another four from his second marriage.

He welcomed his two oldest sons, Homer, 43, and Luke, 40, with Margaret Kelly. 

He welcomed sons Caleb, 32, Jackson, 29, Cooper, 28, and Lincoln, 20, with Jennifer Butler.
