Marcin Tybura vs. Sergey Spivak is our prediction for UFC Vegas 95 Fight of the Night

As a seasoned MMA enthusiast who’s witnessed countless fights across various Octagons, I can confidently say that UFC Vegas 95 is shaping up to be quite the spectacle! The main event, a rematch between Marcin Tybura and Sergey Spivak, has all the makings of an unforgettable heavyweight showdown.

The UFC APEX will host another exciting UFC fight night with UFC Fight Night 95 happening there. While some events at the UFC APEX have had less competitive matchups among ranked fighters, UFC Fight Night 95 boasts several ranked competitors, including a high-profile main event featuring top-10 contenders.

For our choice at UFC Vegas 95, we’re highlighting the highly-anticipated main event clash between two top 10 heavyweights: Marcin Tybura (ranked No. 8) and Sergey Spivak (ranked No. 9). This rematch is a follow-up from their February 2020 battle.

occasionally, main events for heavyweight bouts might be more leisurely and less action-packed, particularly in the later rounds. Yet, any heavyweight fighter on the UFC roster possesses the potential to abruptly conclude the match if provided the chance. The Tybura vs Spivak fight in the UFC APEX main event could potentially stretch over several rounds, becoming somewhat forgettable. However, there are still compelling reasons why this heavyweight bout might turn out to be the standout fight at UFC Vegas 95.

As a passionate fan, I’d like to reminisce about the epic encounter between Tybura and Spivak that took place back in February 2020. In this thrilling bout, Tybura emerged victorious, securing a unanimous decision after an intense battle that was decided by the scorecards.

In the entirety of their fight, Tybura maintained dominance, outstriking Spivak by a significant margin (116-40) in total strikes. He also executed two takedowns and controlled the bout for over eight minutes. The judges’ scores reflected this superiority, awarding him three decisions: 30-27 twice and 29-28. There was no debate about who the superior fighter was that night. However, it has been four years since their first encounter, and Spivak appears to have made necessary improvements to make their rematch more balanced.

Over the past two years since his defeat against Tybura in February 2020, Spivak has managed a record of 6 wins and 2 losses within the UFC. Notably, four of these victories were secured via knockout or submission. Interestingly, his only two defeats among his last eight fights were inflicted by Ciryl Gane, the previous interim heavyweight champion, and Tom Aspinall, who currently holds the interim title in the same weight class.

The defeats of two highly accomplished heavyweight contenders, Gane and Aspinall, demonstrate that there is indeed a noticeable skill gap between them and the less skilled competitors in their division. However, fighters like Tybura and Spivak continue to prove they are top-tier within the second echelon of UFC heavyweights.

Marcin Tybura vs. Sergey Spivak is a rematch from 2020

Tybura, much like Aspinall, suffered a loss and it’s possible that he’s nearing or even at his peak in the heavyweight division. However, he’s shown himself to be a challenging opponent for numerous fighters within the top 15.

As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but admire Tybura’s UFC journey. Initially, he struggled, recording four victories against five defeats in his first nine bouts within the promotion. However, things started to shift dramatically for him, as he managed an impressive 8-2 run since then!

If the UFC Vegas 95 main event lasts all 25 minutes, it’s probably not going to be declared “Fight of the Night” between Tybura and Spivak. This is because Tybura has only gone the distance once in his three career five-round main events with Spivak having never made it past the third round in his professional fights. In simpler terms, the longer the main event lasts, the less likely it is to outshine Tybura and Spivak’s fighting styles given their history of not going the distance and finishing early.

Given their history within the Octagon, the fight might begin gradually due to mutual knowledge, but anticipate it gathering speed as they engage, potentially culminating in a thrilling finish via knockout or submission prior to the last rounds.
