Marathon September Release Date Confirmed Alongside First Gameplay
Bungie has unveiled that their team-oriented extraction shooter titled “Marathon” is set to debut in September, showcasing the initial alpha footage from the swift-moving game – a comprehensive overhaul of the 1994 classic original.
In the enigmatic and ruthless setting of Tau Ceti IV, the game Marathon places you in the shoes of a ‘Runner’, a cyborg mercenary on a quest to find the remnants of a missing colony. Your objective is to amass wealth and influence, which involves joining forces with a team of three Runners, engaging in combat against rival groups and hostile security personnel, all while gathering weapons and enhancements for your character.
If you manage to make it through the assault, you’ll get to retain all the items you’ve accumulated and use them for future expeditions on Tau Ceti IV. Alternatively, you could venture towards the abandoned Marathon ship up above, where a tougher test lies in wait. In the game Marathon, each of the mercenary characters has unique abilities, and you can tailor your chosen character with weapons, implants, and equipment found during these expeditions.
The game titled “Marathon” is set to release on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC on September 23rd. This exciting title will support cross-play and cross-save features. Following its launch, players can anticipate endgame challenges, ranked matches, seasonal narratives, community events, and much more in the upcoming Season 1. If you’re eager to participate in pre-release testing, don’t forget to check out the “Marathon” community Discord!
