Marathon confirms the dates for its alpha test and how to gain access

This week, Marathon is generating a lot of buzz, as Bungie’s newest game is unveiled, set to undergo alpha testing soon, and its official launch date has been announced.

Marathon’s live stream provided information about when the game will be released and when its alpha test will occur. Bungie’s revival of the original game, initially released in 1994 under the same name, is charting a fresh path. In contrast to the original Marathon, which served as almost a prequel to the Destiny series, the upcoming version is designed to be a multiplayer extraction shooter. Much like Escape from Tarkov or Call of Duty’s DMZ modes, Marathon will primarily focus on player-versus-player (PvP) gameplay.

On April 12th, there was a live stream unveiling the latest game title. Previously, playtesting had been happening privately, but Bungie officially announced that players will now have an opportunity to join in the testing process.

Marathon’s alpha and release date

Most of the chatter about Marathon is rather mysterious. With peculiar messages through the game’s social media platforms and hints scattered here and there, there’s a lot of anticipation about what Bungie might be planning next.

On April 12th, during a live broadcast, Bungie offered a sneak peek at what’s in store for the upcoming game, Marathon. Scheduled to hit the shelves on September 23rd, 2025, Marathon aims to make its mark in the extraction shooter genre. Interestingly enough, this launch date aligns with that of Borderlands 4, but fans eager for a fresh experience in this genre are already gearing up for a new test of skills.

During the live broadcast, it was also verified that there would be an alpha testing phase for the game. This means players will have early access to the game before its official release later this year. With Marathon generating a lot of excitement, these alpha tests could help determine if the game will make a significant impact in the extract-and-shoot genre.

To participate in the alpha test of Marathon, individuals should navigate to the official Discord server of the game. There, they can register themselves for the alpha testing phase that commences on April 23rd. Currently, access to the alpha can be obtained exclusively through the Discord or via giveaways. At present, it appears that the alpha version of Marathon will only cater to North American regions, with no European servers available upon release. This arrangement might alter during the alpha phase, but for now, this is the status quo.

Once the initial phase begins (alpha), we’ll gather more details about Marathon. We can’t wait to explore the game further and get our hands on it. At this moment, the anticipation for this upcoming release is high!
