Actor J.R. Ramirez, known for his role as Detective Jared Vasquez on the show Manifest, is engaged.
The 45-year-old actor, who is Cuban-American, shared the news on Instagram with a post alongside his fiancée, Bonnie Leathers.
He shared on Monday that he believes prayer and perseverance paid off, expressing gratitude for the arrival of his best friend. He credited a higher power, writing, ‘This one’s ALL YOU…’ with a smiling face emoji.
Two photos were shared: one showing the couple happily smiling together, and another featuring a close-up of the actress’s diamond ring with the ocean in the background.
Bonnie left a comment on the post saying she was praying for her future husband and expressing her love and pride. She signed it with a heart emoji and indicated she’s excited to marry him.
J.R. and his co-star, Melissa Roxburgh, were together for a long time but have since broken up privately.
The couple shared their location on social media, letting everyone know they were at Playa Flamenco in Puerto Rico.
People left congratulatory messages in the comments, including actor Matt Long from the show Manifest, who simply wrote, ‘Congratulations!!’
Emily VanCamp, who used to star on the show Revenge, wrote, ‘So happy for you guys.’
Meanwhile, former Reba star JoAnna Garcia Swisher added, ‘CONGRATULATIONS!!!!’
It’s not clear how long J.R. and Bonnie dated before the TV star popped the question.
However, the model’s earliest online post featuring her husband-to-be was shared in December 2024.
She posted a photo of herself with her boyfriend in Paris on Instagram last year, writing ‘Paris Mon Amour ❤️’ in the caption.
Last September, she shared a picture with J.R. and playfully wrote, ‘If you treat me like a princess, I’m all yours,’ according to People magazine.
The celebrity posted a video compilation of her recent trip to Puerto Rico on Thursday, along with some thoughts about her unexpected engagement.
She shared a fun update on social media, using the song ‘Telephone’ by Beyoncé and Lady Gaga as background music. She jokingly explained she was ‘kind of busy’ – a quick trip to Puerto Rico to relax and get some sun somehow ended with a surprise engagement!

As a lifestyle expert, I remember when news first broke about J.R. and Melissa! Back in January 2020, sources told Page Six that they were officially an item. They shared vacation photos from Fiji in December 2022, and J.R. posted a picture of them kissing on Instagram in May 2023.
It’s unknown exactly when they ended their relationship.
