Mandy Moore’s This is Us co-star Chrissy Metz shares update after ‘life-altering’ house fire

Actress Chrissy Metz, known for her role in “This Is Us,” shared some news about her friend and fellow cast member Mandy Moore, who recently lost her house during the devastating California wildfires in January. Here’s how she’s doing now.

In a conversation with Extra, the 44-year-old Metz shared that she’s shed an impressive 100 pounds. She also mentioned that Moore and their entire family are coping positively while working on rebuilding their lives.

Moore, 43, lost her house in the Eaton fire, in east Los Angeles county.

In his conversation with the publication, Metz expressed that a significant portion of the structure could be saved, which is fantastic, but there’s still an unexpected discontinuity or inconsistency.

This experience is incredibly transformative for her, given that she has kids and pets at home. It’s terrifying because there seems to be no solution other than attempting to escape from it.

Moore resides under the same roof with her spouse, Taylor Goldsmith, as well as their trio of children – sons Gus, aged 4, Ozzie, aged 2, and daughter Lou, who’s just 10 months old.

Metz’s most recent undertaking centers on the devastating California wildfire that destroyed the tiny mountain community of Paradise, California back in 2018.

She plays the title character in Faith in the Flames: The Nichole Jolly Story.

The Emmy nominee said she was hesitant to sign on for the project at first.

‘I love a true story, and I love a heroic true story,’ she said.

Despite the presence of a real fire, I found myself questioning my abilities, thinking, “Perhaps this task is beyond me… I might not be equipped, not just in terms of physical strength or mental prowess, but also emotionally.” It’s a daunting and very real situation.

Talking to the real Nichole Jolly seemed to help steady Metz’s nerves.

She shared that we chatted for quite some time, during which I bombarded her with numerous questions. Yet, I still can’t fathom the intricacies of her thought process, as she put it.

‘I was like, I don’t think I could do it, you know? Like, I get overwhelmed if I wake up late.’

Joyfully, she replied, ‘I simply moved forward, one foot at a time, and helped anyone I could along the way.’

Faith in the Flames: The Nichole Jolly Story debuted on Lifetime July 19.

When it comes to staying connected with her fellow This Is Us cast members, Metz shared that they maintain regular communication with one another.

‘We all keep in touch by text messaging, whether it’s about new projects or Sterling sharing his nominations for Paradise.’

Brown was nominated for his tenth Emmy Award, this time for playing a secret service agent who was investigating the murder of the president following an ecological disaster in his acting role.

Should he emerge victorious, this would mark his third Emmy award, having previously won in 2016 for American Crime Story and in 2017 for This is Us.
