Mandy Moore looks back on the regrettable fashion choices she’s made throughout her career

As a lifestyle expert with decades of experience under my belt, I must say that Mandy Moore‘s journey through her early career is nothing short of inspiring. From her humble beginnings in music to her blossoming acting career, she has truly come a long way.

Mandy Moore reminisced about her past as she revisited various fashion decisions she made during the initial phase of her professional life, strolling through memory lane in the process.

In an interview with Us Magazine, the 40-year-old performer (who’s expecting baby number three with husband Taylor Goldsmith) opened up about memorable red carpet events, music video scenes, and other noteworthy instances.

Moore broke into the music scene in 1999 with her hit single Candle.

She shared with the media outlet that the tune significantly impacted her subsequent years, emphasizing, “It unlocked numerous opportunities for me to venture into acting and ultimately led me here.”

Discussing her outfit at the 2000 MTV Music Awards – a glittery pair of white denim pants and a see-through golden blouse worn over a white undershirt – the celebrity stated, ‘I most certainly wouldn’t don that ensemble nowadays.’

Reflecting on that memorable occasion, she expressed, ‘In the initial stages of my profession, I found myself at Radio City Music Hall. My enthusiasm for being there was palpable.’

She said about filming her first music video, ‘All of it was so new to me.’

About to be a mother of three, she said with enthusiasm, “I recall feeling incredibly thrilled about going through the process of styling my hair, applying makeup, and choosing my outfit. I had never experienced being glamorous before.”

The 25th anniversary of her first pop song is on August 17.

She explained that it seemed as though the event had happened to someone else, more like a scene from a movie she’d previously watched rather than a personal experience.

The Y2K visualizer showcased the singer pretending to drive a car and engaging in playful interactions with a romantic interest.

Fans who are eagerly awaiting fresh tunes from the recording artist might be curious about the timeline. She hinted to the media, ‘I’ll be spending this summer working on determining my future musical direction.’

After releasing her debut album, Mandy turned her focus to acting.

In 2001, her debut role was playing the teenage villain Lana Thomas in The Princess Diaries, a film where Anne Hathaway was the lead actress.

Reflecting on her outfit for the movie premiere, she remarked, ‘Anne Hathaway exudes Hollywood glamour while I’m in an unusual, washed-denim business suit.’

Moore added lightheartedly, ‘We look like we’re going to very different events.’

And about her on-trend low-rise jeans, she said they are now ‘definitely not my cup of tea.’

In the progression of her blossoming acting journey, she landed the leading part in the 2002 drama “A Walk to Remember.” Here, she shared screen time with Shane West.

I can’t help but affectionately call my fellow actor my “guiding force” on set, and I’m thrilled to say that our bond has evolved into a lasting friendship.

As Jamie Sullivan, the character nearing her end, she expressed: “The young girl was clueless about her actions. Shane was instrumental in teaching me the art of filmmaking and the dynamics of a film set. I hold deep affection for him.”

Moore went on to star in This Is Us for six seasons from 2016 to 2022.

She met her husband, a musician, in 2015 and they share sons Gus, three, and Ozzie, 21 months. 

She encountered him at a sushi eatery, and what unfolded was an unforgettable four-hour dining experience, as if time stood still. It felt like the entire restaurant was just for us, and from that moment on, I instinctively knew he was my soulmate. She couldn’t help but express her feelings with enthusiasm.

Speaking about motherhood, she shared her thoughts: “Life gains vibrant colors once you become a parent. It’s truly wonderful – I adore every moment of it.”
