Mandy Moore Blasts LA County Over Fire Destruction and Rebuilding Roadblocks

Mandy Moore criticized Los Angeles County because they’ve made it extremely difficult for her to reconstruct her home in Altadena, which was partially damaged in a severe fire incident four months ago.

Actress from ‘This Is Us’, aged 41, was almost done renovating the house she lived in with her husband Taylor Goldsmith and their three kids, Gus (age 4), Ozzie (2), and baby Louise. Unfortunately, a deadly series of fires ignited on January 7, coinciding with strong winds.

Even though their house’s framework remained standing, the star had previously shared that the contents within were largely destroyed by the encircling flames, referring to them as almost completely lost.

In a heartfelt post shared on Instagram Stories on Tuesday, Moore expressed her feelings about the challenges of rebuilding after the fires in Los Angeles County, stating: ‘I appreciate your difficulty and impossibility of rebuilding here as much as possible.’

It might not come as a shock, but the intricate steps and hurdles they’re imposing are truly astounding.

It isn’t surprising at all, yet it’s amazing how many twists and turns they’ve got us going through.

Later on, Mandy posted again and said, ‘Looking back, I can see that my previous post might have been a little confusing due to my anger.’

The star exclaimed, ‘It’s frustrating and uncaring… the countless hurdles and senseless red tape that LA County is requiring from fire victims who are trying to rebuild and regain their lives.’

It wasn’t expected that making this process simple would be a challenge for California. After completing the construction in November, returning to the same starting point is already painful enough…

At the tail end of January, Donald Trump made a trip to California where he met with Mayor Karen Bass in a broadcasted gathering. Their discussion centered around initiatives to support fire victims and expediting home reconstruction for them at the earliest opportunity.

As I stood among fellow community leaders during our conversation, I couldn’t help but express my feelings: “You simply can’t grasp the severity, the heart-wrenching impact, unless you bear witness to it yourself.

He remarked that he hadn’t anticipated the situation. Instead, it was a disaster. It was astonishing. In reality, it was like a complete destruction, as reported by KTLA 5.

He suggested allowing victims to begin the process of rebuilding their homes that evening, however Bass cautioned about the potential risks involved, including handling dangerous waste materials.

Trump additionally pledged assistance from the federal government to swiftly rebuild damaged structures and regions, encompassing areas like Pacific Palisades and Eaton Fires, following the fires.

With those two fires combined, around 16,251 were completely destroyed.

Bass has been under scrutiny for being in Ghana during the recent fires, and subsequently found herself in a damaging situation when it was exposed that she had lied about a wildfire. This revelation sparked a movement aiming to get her dismissed starting from March this year.

Other famous personalities criticized the Los Angeles mayor soon after the fires broke out, with Khloe Kardashian referring to him as a “joke.

In February, Karen terminated City Fire Chief Kristin Crowley, as she shifted responsibility for the management of the wildfires to Crowley, claiming that she had not been adequately warned about the fire risks.

As a lifestyle expert, I recently came across some fascinating insights: According to a survey conducted in April by the Los Angeles Times, Bass’s popularity seems to have dipped compared to last year.

In early January, as wildfires swept across Southern California, Moore made sure to keep her followers informed about the situation.

She shared a brief video clip from her car ride through Altadena, capturing buildings reduced to ashes amidst heavy smoke billowing overhead.

During that difficult time, I found myself seeking comfort and support from Hilary Duff and her dear ones, and fortunately, we were fortunate enough to temporarily share a roof with them as well.

A few days passed, and they provided a report about their residence, saying, “We managed to park and stroll up our street to observe the destruction. Incredibly, the core of our home remains upright, but for the moment.

She elaborated, stating that while the structure remains largely undamaged, it’s unfortunately uninhabitable. Sadly, we suffered a significant loss: Taylor and Griffin’s studio, including all their musical instruments and equipment accumulated over the years, was destroyed. Additionally, our garage and back house were affected too.

All individuals we are acquainted with have suffered tremendous losses. Each house along our street no longer stands. My in-laws, my brother and his wife – who were set to welcome their first child in just six weeks – as well as our closest friends. Struggling with a strange sense of survivor’s guilt.

Moore stated, “We deeply care for this community and are committed to aiding in its reconstruction and providing support. We appreciate all the inquiries and offers of assistance. Go Altadena, we’re in this together!

Additionally, she posted pictures of the remains of their house, whereas her neighbors suffered the loss of their entire possessions.

In February, Mandy shared that while their home remained standing, it wasn’t safe for them to return yet.

This week, we discovered that although our house remains intact, due to the surrounding fires and burning buildings, almost everything inside our home has been severely damaged or destroyed.

The actress admitted their good fortune but also questioned, “Yet, do we still possess a place to call home? I’m finding my understanding of it is shifting. Not the tangible location, no.

Later on, she shared that we were almost wrapping up everything when the fires struck. I’m not implying this to make you sympathize with our situation more than others.

or

She later conveyed that we were just about finished with everything when the fires occurred. I’m not asking for your pity over us compared to someone else.

Just as mentioned earlier, I want to express my sincere gratitude. It’s truly fortunate for us that we discovered a temporary shelter, and it brings me great joy to see the kids content and secure there.

Previously, following criticism over sharing a GoFundMe page for her family, the actress from Tangled had advised her fans to express their displeasure using a more direct phrase, such as “I’d prefer if you’d find another way to communicate.

Mandy shared that her brother-in-law and sister-in-law had recently become homeless, having lost their house and all their possessions, just a few short weeks prior to the arrival of their first child.

She posted a link to the GoFundMe campaign on her Instagram, a campaign established by Hilary Duff and her spouse Matt Koma; however, Instagram users showed disappointment with this action.

The person asked if, since they couldn’t help, they must be wealthy. However, other individuals stood up for the celebrity in question.

As a lifestyle expert, I feel compelled to address a common misconception that I often encounter. When folks question whether we are truly assisting our loved ones or simply adhering to some supposed financial benchmark suggested by Google, it falls short of being either helpful or compassionate. Instead, let’s focus on fostering understanding and empathy in our discussions about family finances.

Absolutely, we’re doing that! Matt initiated a GoFundMe campaign, and since folks have been asking about ways to assist, I’m passing it along.

She stated, ‘We’ve also suffered a great loss due to a fire. So, could you please leave us alone? There’s no need for you to involve yourself in our situation.’

A while back, Mandy recently celebrated her son Gus’s fourth birthday and praised him for his ‘strength in adversity’, following the L.A. fires.
