Mandip Gill and Bobby Brazier star in first-look trailer for new UK drama
As a seasoned gamer and binge-watcher of countless series, I must say that the trailer for Curfew has piqued my interest like no other! The concept of an alternate reality where men are bound by a strict curfew is both intriguing and thought-provoking.
Paramount+ has unveiled the first trailer for upcoming UK drama Curfew.
The upcoming six-part series, set to launch on a streaming platform on October 10, boasts a stellar ensemble cast featuring Mandip Gill from “Doctor Who,” Bobby Brazier known for “Strictly Come Dancing,” Larry Lamb hailing from “Gavin & Stacey,” and Sarah Parish, star of “Stay Close.
In the fictional world of “Curfew,” inspired by Jayne Cowie’s novel “After Dark,”, the story unfolds in a different dimension where a law known as ‘The Women’s Safety Act’ has been enacted, resulting in all men being subject to a mandatory curfew from 7pm to 7am. Their movements during these hours are monitored through an ankle tag.
Yet, when a woman was cruelly slain during the curfew period and her corpse abandoned on the steps of the Women’s Security Center, seasoned detective Pamela Green (Parish) embarks on an investigation.
Despite Pamela’s belief that the suspect is a man, her hypothesis is dismissed due to the stringent curfew regulations implemented approximately three years back.
In the official synopsis, it is stated: “Pamela persistently aims to expose a man as the murderer, but her investigation could potentially dismantle The Women’s Safety Act… powerful figures are resolute in ensuring the curfew’s success and will go to great lengths to prevent Pamela from uncovering the truth.
Gill shares the screen with Parish, portraying Sarah – a dedicated worker at the tagging center, pivotal to the unfolding mystery. Meanwhile, Brazier takes on the role of James, a vocal student who strongly disapproves of the imposed curfew.
In the meantime, Lamb assumes the character of Rhys Holden, a U.S. citizen finding it tough to adjust to the limitations in the United Kingdom.
Among the other performers are Alexandra Burke, who won The X Factor; Anita Dobson and Lucy Benjamin, both known for their roles on EastEnders; James Craven, previously seen on Coronation Street; and Imogen Sandhu, a recent guest star on Casualty.
Adam Korson from “This Is Us”, Amy Louise Pemberton known for “Legends of Tomorrow”, Tommy McDonnell, Selorm Adonu, and Raphael D’Alterio have all been added to the cast.
Curfew will premiere on Paramount+ on 10th October.
