Mandalorian: Rosario Dawson's favorite Ahsoka and Grogu moment was cut

As a gamer with over two decades of immersion in the Star Wars universe, I can confidently say that Rosario Dawson’s portrayal of Ahsoka Tano has been nothing short of breathtaking. Her favorite moment – the heartwarming forehead touch between her and Grogu – is one that resonated deeply with fans worldwide. It was a sweet bonding moment that brought a tear to many eyes, including mine.

As a gaming enthusiast who also happens to be a Star Wars fan, I was thrilled to hear that Rosario Dawson recently shared one of her favorite Ahsoka moments at Fan Expo Canada. In a panel with Jo Deckelmeier, she disclosed that her most cherished moment involving the character happened during the filming of The Mandalorian’s Chapter 13, “The Jedi.” According to ScreenRant, this touching moment between Ahsoka and Grogu from the live-action series is Rosario’s all-time favorite.

One way to rephrase the given text in a natural and easy-to-read manner is as follows:

Grogu. In The Mandalorian, I did that shot that you see sort of behind the scenes stuff where I put my forehead to his forehead and I remember doing it in the scene and thinking this is too much, right? I’m probably getting orange on his forehead and Dave was going to say something and be like, this doesn’t work. And then it wasn’t in the scene and I was like, okay. Yeah. And then it was all over everywhere else. He loved it and he actually drew it for me and so it was a really, really sweet spot.

Rosario Dawson.

It’s unfortunate that the heartwarming scene featuring Rosario and Grogu didn’t make it into the episode, but hopefully, they’ll get another opportunity to film together. The bond between them is truly special, and for Grogu, it must have been a significant moment to encounter a kind and gentle Jedi after such a long time. This encounter may have even been instrumental in helping Grogu reveal his story to Din Djarin. If not for their meeting, Din might still be in the dark about Grogu’s name. That episode skillfully combined Rosario’s introduction as Ahsoka, the exploration of Grogu’s past, and Din’s joy at discovering Grogu’s name.

Beyond what’s already shown, this episode delves into Din’s thoughts, revealing his sorrow over Grogu being taught by a Jedi. He senses their impending separation, and although Ahsoka might not train him, someone will. Both characters dislike the idea of being apart. Interestingly, Ahsoka appears more joyful and carefree around Grogu and Din in Chapter 13 than she does in the initial five episodes of Ahsoka. I speculate that this could be a subtle touch added intentionally by Dave Filoni.

Currently, Ahsoka, Grogu, and Din Djarin cannot be together since Ahsoka is stranded in Peridea and must find her way back home. It would be delightful to witness their reunion once she returns, as Din remarkably stated during this episode, “A Mandalorian and a Jedi, they’ll never expect it.”

The Mandalorian and Ahsoka are streaming on Disney+.
