Mandalorian: Rosario Dawson praises Pedro Pascal's performance in Season 2 finale

As a devoted fan who has spent countless hours immersed in the galaxy far, far away, I must say that Pedro Pascal’s performance in The Mandalorian’s Season 2 finale was nothing short of extraordinary. The scene where Din Djarin says goodbye to Grogu, with his helmet off for the second time, was a poignant moment that truly showcased Pascal’s acting chops.

In the heart of The Mandalorian Season 2 finale, I couldn’t help but express my admiration for Pedro Pascal’s outstanding portrayal – particularly in that emotional scene where Din Djarin bids farewell to Grogu. Simply amazing!

Joseph Deckelmeier from Screen Rant points out that The Mandalorian’s creator, Dawson, was particularly pleased with a scene in which helmetless Din Djarin bids farewell to Grogu, who departs with Luke Skywalker for Jedi training. The finale of Season 2 of The Mandalorian was filled with excitement as it brought back Luke Skywalker, who defeated Moff Gideon’s Dark Troopers and ultimately saved Djarin, Grogu, and the team assembled by Djarin to rescue Grogu.

In the given scene, young Grogu stretches out his hand towards Din’s helmet, prompting Din (or Mando) to take off his helmet in response. This particular moment gained widespread attention following the episode’s debut, as viewers were delighted by the rare glimpse of Pedro Pascal’s face for two consecutive episodes. The removal of the helmet occurred during Chapter 15, titled “The Believer,” when a facial scan was required on the planet Morak to acquire Moff Gideon’s ship’s coordinates. This episode stood out as exceptional and included an extended sequence showing Din without his helmet, making viewers uneasy. However, what transpired next was unexpected: despite initial assumptions that he would not remove it again, Din took off his helmet once more.

In Season 2 of “The Mandalorian,” Pascal appeared more frequently and wore the suit not just during episodes where Din unveiled his helmet. When Din took off his helmet, it demonstrated that his affection for his son transcended his devotion to the creed and “The Way.” Though he aimed to make amends in Season 3 of “The Mandalorian,” all the actions he performed for Grogu in Season 2 play a crucial role in shaping his character development, and these events will probably impact his future storyline.

In Chapter 16, titled “The Rescue,” Pascal’s performance was highly acclaimed by both fans and critics, with some even suggesting that he could be nominated for an Emmy. Regardless of whether he receives a nomination or not, the scene has left a lasting impression on us all and held significant meaning for Pascal himself. While viewers have expressed enthusiasm about seeing Din without his helmet, Pascal himself has stated that he prefers the helmet to stay on unless it’s essential for a particular scene.

It’s wonderful to learn that Pedro’s Star Wars co-stars, such as Rosario Dawson, appreciate his performance in the Season 2 finale. How exciting would it be if their characters interacted in an upcoming episode? We can only imagine what it would be like if Din Djarin took off his helmet for a scene featuring Rosario as Ahsoka Tano! While “The Rescue” was the last time we saw Din without his helmet, we eagerly anticipate seeing more of Pedro’s character in The Mandalorian and Grogu and future seasons of The Mandalorian.

The Mandalorian is streaming on Disney+.
