Mana Best Builds, Teams, and How to Play

Overview

  • Good DPS via hard hitting burst
  • Mana’s healing can sustain most level-locked content (solo raid, level 400 anomaly intercept). However her healing is still on the weaker side, below Rapunzel and Alice: Wonderland Bunny
  • Unique flat charge speed buff, which greatly benefits select Nikkes (Currently Scarlet: Black Shadow)
  • Unconditional Resurrection on ally knock-out, a very strong asset in PvP

Newbie/Incomplete Box Section

For beginners, Mana is quite versatile as she can deal more damage per second than many Nikkes in the S-tier and lower, offer overall healing to the team, and boost their charge speeds, especially those with shorter base charge times such as Scarlet: Black Shadow.

As a devoted admirer, I’d like to highlight an intriguing synergy in her gameplay: when she reduces her charge speed, it remarkably does away with the necessity for Alice to build up her charge speed (boosted by 8% from her Offensive Line gear). This is particularly fascinating since, assuming that Alice’s Skill 1, Burst, and Mana’s Skill 2 are at level 10, this synergy effectively allows Alice to fire off her abilities instantly!

If the leader doesn’t have a healing unit, Mana’s durability is usually sufficient for most boss fights. However, other bosses might necessitate an additional character like Nikke, who has some form of sustainability in their abilities (for example, Liter’s Cover Repair or Taunt Nikkes).

The revival of her could offer exceptional strategies for Player versus Player engagements and specific Alteisein interceptions, enabling a Nikke to withstand an onslaught of attacks effectively. However, with numerous newly released Nikkes, Alteisein becomes less challenging.

Normal Attack Information

In simpler terms, Mana’s standard attack and base burst generation are typical for her gun category, with each hit contributing 0.25% to the burst meter. While Mana’s skill 2 improves this, it’s still not as powerful as rapid-fire snipers or rocket launchers. However, in player versus player (PvP) situations, Mana has a higher than average burst generation rate.

Skill 1: Metal y

Initiates at the beginning of a battle, benefits itself:

– Metal Y: ATK increases by 58.08% continuously, activates once per battle.
– Activates when character is in Metal Y status after landing 10 normal attacks, benefits all allies.
– Recovers 2.04% of the user’s maximum HP.
– If user is in Metal Y status when an ally faints, it aids one incapacitated ally unit(s) with the highest Attack (excluding the user), reviving them with 96% HP.
– If the user is in Metal Y status when an ally is knocked out, it heals itself and removes the Metal Y status.

As a gamer, I’d put it like this: Most of Mana’s defensive strength lies here. Her team healing recovery rate is 2.44% of her maximum HP per second, which generally handles most bosses that don’t specialize in one-shot attacks. However, against bosses with substantial CP deficits in the story mode, this healing might fall short.

Without the bonus from Alice’s healing potency and considering only the supporter HP scaling, her healing rate is approximately 2.96% per second. This value increases by 150% (or 2.5 times) when her healing potency buff is active.

In the Campaign, Mana’s Resurrection ability isn’t overly beneficial except for certain bosses like Alteisein and some challenging variations of Sinister, as well as bosses from the Mace chapter in hard mode. These specific bosses are notorious for possessing moves that cannot be dodged or blocked, resulting in an instant defeat. Mana’s resurrection ability can be helpful when facing these types of bosses due to their devastating, unavoidable attacks.

Skill 2: Metal o

At the onset of a fight, this ability becomes active and affects only the character it’s assigned to.

For Metal o, the rate at which the Burst Gauge fills increases by 70.4% continually. This activation happens when Metal o enters Full Burst mode. It boosts attack damage by 21.12% for a duration of 10 seconds and raises overall attack power by 63.36% for the same period, before removing the Metal o status.

When entering Full Burst, this ability also activates for friendly units with the longest basic Charge Time. It reduces their Charge Time by 0.18 seconds for a duration of 10 seconds.

If the caster has already used a Burst Skill before the Full Burst ends, this ability becomes active and affects the character it’s assigned to. The rate at which the Metal o Burst Gauge fills remains at 70.4% continuously.

During a full burst, Mana’s Skill 1 and Skill 2 combinedly increase her attack power by approximately 121%. While this percentage might seem substantial, it’s important to note that as an AR Nikke, her default damage output is relatively low compared to other characters.

Among all characters, only Mana has a consistent decrease in charge speed. This implies that Nikkes with shorter initial charge times receive a more significant advantage from Mana (for instance, 0.3 seconds, 1 second, and 1.5 seconds are the current base charge times on Nikkes). The reduction in Mana’s charge speed is a flat one, but it can be equivalent to x% reduction in charge speed based on the initial charge time, as demonstrated by how Mana affects Alice’s charge speed.

ARs (Assault Rifles) struggle significantly with filling their burst gauge at a decent pace. Even with a 70.4% boost, the improvement might be unperceivable considering dedicated burst generators (such as SMGs, Rocket Launchers, and Sniper Rifles) dominate other weapon types. However, in Player versus Player situations, this enhancement propels her to above-average capabilities in terms of burst generation, thereby enhancing her adaptability in team composition.

Burst: Fatal Error

The action targets a single enemy unit that is closest to the crosshair. For a duration of 10 seconds, it causes the enemy to sustain damage, increasing by 52.8% every second for the first 10 seconds, dealing an amount equivalent to 396% of its final attack power as sustained damage per second.

Mana’s burst is a powerful tool that helps even the playing field for her. Compared to Scarlet, it delivers an exceptionally strong impact, enabling Mana to inflict significantly more damage, even without highly-specialized teams, by a substantial margin.

Despite Mana’s initial burst values being lower than Summer Sakura’s, her substantial self-attack boosts and additional multipliers lead to a slightly higher burst damage compared to Summer Sakura. This even rivals the burst damage dealt by characters such as Quency: Escape Queen and Phantom.

Alice, Scarlet: Black Shadow and Mana Interactions

Scarlet: Black Shadow Interaction

Alice and Mana have similar charge speed reductions for Scarlet: Black Shadow pairing

Alice: -0.175s charge reduction
Mana: -0.18s charge reduction

In essence, both Scarlet: Black Shadow and the other entity possess similar enhancement abilities. However, Mana subtly decreases the requirement for overload gear charge speed when using Scarlet: Black Shadow, making it easier for her to reach her attack breakthrough points at full burst speed. Meanwhile, the overload gear breakthroughs between Scarlet: Black Shadow and Alice are as follows:

+4.9% Charge Speed: 18 hits
+11% Charge Speed : 19 hits
+20% Charge Speed : 20 hits

Alice Interaction

Alice doesn’t need external equipment to achieve full potential due to Mana’s boost in charge speed. Although it’s listed as a fixed reduction in speed, it’s actually a variable reduction in charge speed based on the original charge time.

Campaign

Unfortunately, Manas’s auto attacks are significantly lacking in power, especially compared to other aspects of her abilities. This means she doesn’t inflict enough damage on elite mobs or stage bosses to make a substantial impact.

She primarily inflicts significant harm on elite enemies and bosses by employing her powerful burst attack, which targets the closest enemy. However, it’s important to note that this damage isn’t continuous; instead, it occurs over a period of 10 seconds, which can be quite prolonged.

In simpler terms, the suitable groups for her would be either those led by Alice (when requiring swiftness) or the Black Shadow teams headed by Scarlet. It’s not advisable to combine Mana, Alice, and Black Shadow (SBS) as Alice will overtake Scarlet’s buff in this scenario.

Arena

Mana excels in Player versus Player combat, standing out due to her ability to instantly resurrect a critical team member. Being one of just three Nikkes capable of such a feat, this versatility enables her to complement a vast array of teams, even functioning effectively as an off-burst unit!

In this scenario, Mana possesses an advantage over both Rapunzel and xAnne. Unlike xAnne and Rapunzel who require a burst to rejuvenate, Mana can instantly resurrect a unit upon its demise. Additionally, if the revived unit is crucial to the burst chain, it will continue to progress. Moreover, Mana offers many other tricks up her sleeve, such as assisting Rosanna’s teams in various ways.

Special Interception | Union Raid | Solo Raid

As a gamer, I’ve got some exciting news to share: Mana has pulled off the unthinkable! She successfully separated Alice from Scarlet: Black Shadow in raids, allowing me to strategize better and team up with units that suit Alice’s strengths. For instance, I can now pair her with core buffers or even mono-fire teams for maximum effect. (That is, until the maids were introduced into the game!)

In Scarlet: Black Shadow, generating bursts remains a significant challenge since Alice is currently the sole burst generator. Other potential burst generators like RLs and SRs can’t be utilized because they would essentially drain Mana’s speed-charging advantage instead.

Important post-announcement of Maids (Mast, Anchor) notes

Regrettably, because Anchor is a Reinforcement Learning character, Anchor will take Mana’s charge speed advantage. This can be problematic for Mana’s role, as the Maid duos have the greatest potential for distributing damage and ATK buffs among themselves, a task that Scarlet: Black Shadow excels at.

This indicates that Mana, previously supporting SBS, has become outdated in that role. However, Mana remains effective as a wind Damage Per Second (DPS) character, dealing significant damage on her own in wind-weak solo raids.

Kraken

Rapi: Red Hood,Grave,Scarlet: Black Shadow,Mana, ludmilla: winter owner

The original sentence says that “Grave is slotted instead of Crown for her burst generation.” This means that instead of placing the item called “Crown” on the character named “Grave,” another item (possibly “Grave’s burst gen buff”) is being used instead.

Instead of putting the item “Crown” on Grave, they are using a different item for her burst generation.

Instead of equipping Crown on Grave, they are choosing another item to boost her burst abilities.

As for the second sentence, it says that “Rapi: Red Hood is recommended instead of liter as (she’s simply better) Rapi or MGs in general have a unique interaction with Grave’s burst gen buff.” This means that the character called “Red Hood” (or Rapidfire in some games) is suggested to be used because they work particularly well together, especially when combined with “Grave’s burst generation buff.”

Red Hood is a recommended character to use alongside Grave, as their abilities complement each other, especially during her burst phases.

Using Red Hood in combination with Grave enhances her burst abilities due to their unique synergy.

As a gamer, I’ve found that Burst IIIs can either be Naga or Noir, both dealing high elemental damage rolls. However, Sakura: Bloom in Summer isn’t really on my radar because Mana’s burst does comparable damage and it’s more advantageous to have a buffer for Special Burst Sequence (SBS) instead.

Solo Raid

Essentially, the composition is quite similar to that of Kraken’s, with potential swaps made based on another team’s requirements for survivability or defensive abilities such as Crown taunts or Liter’s shield repair capabilities.

Strengths

  • Mana can DPS, heal and support (certain Nikkes) rather well. Making her a good all-arounder
  • Mana can outdps most Nikkes in her tier (S tier Bossing)
  • Allows unique plays in PvP
  • Can separate Alice from Scarlet: Black Shadow teams, giving more team flexibility in content that requires multiple teams

Weaknesses

  • Despite having burst generation buffs, teams with Mana will have severe burst generation problems unless slotting in Grave (Pilgrim). RLs and SRs will only serve to steal Mana’s charge speed buff from Scarlet: Black Shadow (her BiS team)
  • Outclassed immediately as a Scarlet: Black Shadow supporter after the announcement of valentine Maids (Anchor, Mast)
