Man of Tomorrow Superman Movie Adds Another DCU Hero to Cast

Another DCU hero has joined the cast of Man of Tomorrow.

The next Superman movie, written and directed by James Gunn, is set to be released in US theaters in 2027. David Corenswet and Nicholas Hoult will return as Superman/Clark Kent and Lex Luthor, respectively, continuing the story begun in the 2025 film.

Who has joined the cast of Man of Tomorrow?

According to Jeff Sneider’s The InSneider and The Hollywood Reporter, Aaron Pierre has been cast as John Stewart in the upcoming film, Man of Tomorrow.

It’s still unclear exactly how significant a role Pierre will have in the upcoming DCU film. However, according to Sneider, it won’t be just a brief appearance. James Gunn’s sequel is substantial enough that Pierre has had to decline other work opportunities recently to accommodate it.

Pierre’s character, inspired by John Stewart, will first appear in Lanterns, the new DC Universe show coming to HBO Max this August. The series, created by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King, also features Kyle Chandler as Hal Jordan, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, and Ulrich Thomsen as Sinestro.

Filming for ‘Man of Tomorrow’ is scheduled to start in April in Atlanta, Georgia. The movie will star David Corenswet, Nicholas Hoult, and Edi Pierre, alongside cast members like Lars Eidinger as Brainiac, Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, and Maria Gabriella de Faria as The Engineer.

Details about the movie’s plot are still mostly secret, but we know Superman and Lex Luthor will be forced to team up against a powerful new enemy, likely Brainiac.

I’m really excited for ‘Man of Tomorrow’ – it’s coming out on July 9, 2027! And if you’re in the mood for some Superman right now, you can find it streaming on HBO Max.
