Man City’s Tekkz and Bonanno jubilant after defending ePremier League title

Manchester City are officially back to back ePremier League Champions.

On Sunday, March 23rd, Manchester City successfully continued their rule in the ePremier League, clinching a tight victory in the final against Brighton & Hove Albion – a team they competed against last year as well.

Despite the similar result compared to last year, this season’s finale presented a distinct twist. Manchester City started off losing in the initial match. However, it was the Argentine player Bonanno who orchestrated an impressive comeback in the second game, leading to another consecutive championship for Manchester City.

This victory grants entry for both Tekkz and Bonanno into the eChampions League and FC Pro World Finals, events that will occur in the latter part of the year.

Xpsp held conversations with Tekkz and Bonanno following their thrilling victory comeback during the ePremier League finals that took place in London.

Man City delighted at successful ePremier League title defence

Both Tekkz and Bonanno showed clear signs of joy upon successfully retaining their championship title. However, for Tekkz, the situation was rather unique since he had lost his last game and had to entirely depend on his teammate’s efforts to secure victory.

Tekkz: “I’m absolutely thrilled! The situation is particularly rewarding. Last year, triumphing in the 118th minute of extra time was fantastic. This season, I reached the final and unfortunately lost 4-2. However, he managed to turn it around and eventually won. He triumphed with a margin of three goals. Being carried to victory is one of the most exhilarating feelings, and I really appreciate this experience!”

Bonanno expresses his astonishment at achieving back-to-back victories. He admits that the season started off poorly for him, and perhaps others may have lost faith in him. However, he has always trusted in himself, and now he gets to prove it.

At this specific occasion, there was significantly high expectation towards Bonanno specifically. Since he had a shaky beginning to the season, his sole path left for qualifying for the eChampions League and FC Pro World Finals was through Man City winning the ePremier League.

In the finals, I was filled with confidence as I had recently defeated ManuBachoore 6-2. This victory made me believe I could win, and I felt quite positive. I was certain I could best him since we often practice together, which boosted my self-assurance significantly.

When asked if victory was ever in doubt, Bonanno had a simple reply. “No.”

Passion on display during thrilling final

During the final’s second game, it was evident that Manchester City’s team was filled with intense enthusiasm. Bonanno, who is typically reserved, displayed a level of excitement we had never seen before, cheering wildly. Similarly, Tekkz, known for his calm demeanor, celebrated every goal and lamented each missed opportunity, showing an uncharacteristic eagerness throughout the entire match.

“Typically, I don’t show my enthusiasm too openly because usually, after winning the first game, I save my energy for the second leg. However, this time was different – for the first time ever, I put my teammate at a two-goal disadvantage. So, if we lose, it would be on me. That’s why we all need to stay focused and work together.”

Tekkz was surprised to lose his leg against Brighton & Hove Albion.

Tekkz: “Jaydon and I train regularly. Normally when I defeat him by four or five goals, I feel like challenging him even more, wanting to beat him completely. However, the game started and he scored within two minutes. After that, it was an unusual situation. Given that I reached the semi-final and focused on keeping possession during that match, switching back to playing normally seemed difficult. Nevertheless, we won, so I don’t mind!

Bonanno switches everything up to shake off poor start

Bonanno admits that he alters various settings when aiming to break free from subpar performances. Remarkably, this tactic appeared effective, as his performance peaked and reached its highest level towards the end of the event.

In the first game, I had a really poor performance that affected my confidence. But instead of playing even worse, I decided to make changes. I adjusted the camera settings and tweaked my strategies significantly. Additionally, I increased the amount of manual shooting.

As demonstrated by Tekkz’s example, Bonanno exhibited an equally intense level of excitement, which is more passionate than usual. He believes that when he psyches himself up in such a manner, it significantly enhances his gameplay.

As a gamer, when I’m feeling on par, it’s decent, but nothing extraordinary in-game. Today, however, I was off my game, so I need to clear my head and refocus. It’s all about mindset, I firmly believe it’s not the gameplay that’s at fault here. My last two matches were spot on, but I think it’s because of my mental state, not my actual gaming skills!

Man City’s support crucial to ePremier League success

Manchester City has a substantial commitment towards FC esports and the ePremier League. This 20-team tournament, where each Premier League club participates, sees varying degrees of participation and financial backing. At the event, Manchester City boasted a robust team of supporters. Each player has an individual coach assigned to them, and the club promotes their team and achievements on multiple platforms.

Both players strongly felt that this level of support hugely improves their performance at events.

“This is a significant improvement. The key aspect here is mutual trust, which seems to be prevalent among us all. Behind the scenes, there’s a substantial amount of support. So, if someone encounters a tough day, for instance, Matty had a challenging first game. Then, there are roughly four or five people ready to assist him in overcoming that.

In my opinion, I and Matty have established a sense of trust in our games. For instance, if we were in the semi-final and Liverpool was leading 3-2, Manu, who is trailing, might think about getting that goal back instead of relying on his teammates to help turn things around. In a similar situation, if I’m playing in the final and find myself 4-2 down, I’d rather accept the loss as 4-2 instead of trying to come back on my own, giving him a chance to do so.

From London, electronic Premier League winners Tekkz and Bonanno are setting off to get ready for the upcoming eChampions League. This tournament, anticipated in late Spring, will follow once all affiliated leagues have wrapped up their seasons.
