Malcolm-Jamal Warner honored by TV mom Phylicia Rashad during Emmys’ ‘In Memoriam’

The 77th Emmy Awards began its tribute to those we’ve lost, known as the “In Memoriam” segment, with a remembrance of Malcolm-Jamal Warner, best known for his role on “The Cosby Show.”

Phylicia Rashad, a six-time Emmy nominee known for playing Warner’s mother on television, spoke at the Peacock Theater. She paid tribute to Warner and remembered the TV stars who passed away this year.

Rashad described the actor as a much-loved young star on a famous TV show that audiences watched mature, adding that, like many people they lost this year, Malcolm-Jamal Warner will be fondly remembered.

Noah Wyle’s new series, ‘The Pitt’ on HBO Max, took home the Emmy for Best Drama on Sunday night at the 2025 awards ceremony.

The tribute featured memories of many stars, including Michelle Trachtenberg, Ozzy Osbourne, Anne Burrell, David Lynch, Julian McMahon, George Wendt, Loni Anderson, Maggie Smith, John Amos, and Mark Snow. It ended with a photo of Quincy Jones.

Due to the limited time available for the broadcast, some television personalities weren’t featured in the tribute. This included wrestler Hulk Hogan, and actors Polly Holliday and Graham Greene.
