Malcolm-Jamal Warner drowning takes new twist after late Cosby Show star’s daughter was said to be with him
Earlier this week, the unfortunate drowning death of Malcolm-Jamal Warner became even more distressing when authorities revealed that his young daughter was with him in the water at the time of the incident.
But police have now clarified the eight-year-old girl’s role in her father’s death.
Initially, authorities stated that Warner was swimming alongside an eight-year-old girl when a tragic accident occurred, resulting in his unintentional drowning during their trip to Costa Rica.
Police reports state that surfers quickly responded when they noticed an actor and his child having trouble in the sea, apparently being pulled away by a strong current known as a rip current.
On Thursday, Costa Rica’s Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) stated that when Bill Cosby’s daughter was there, he had already drowned, not in the water at the moment of his unfortunate death.
At some point, Mr. Warner was enjoying playtime with his daughter on the beach. Later, he stepped away from the water with his daughter and entered the sea accompanied by one of his friends. The Office of Internal Judicial Affairs made this statement available to the public in their official announcement.

At that instant, they were carried off by the strong flow of the water, while their friend somehow managed to escape. Unfortunately, however, Mr. Warner failed to free himself and was dragged away by some individuals on the shore. Medical aid was provided by Red Cross personnel, yet he tragically lost his life at the location itself.
As a lifestyle enthusiast, I recently came across an inspiring tale unfolding in the vibrant waters of New York. Previously reported by ABC7, it was revealed that a selfless surfer took action when a young girl found herself in distress. Leveraging his board as a tool of rescue, he bravely brought the girl to safety. Meanwhile, a dedicated volunteer lifeguard swooped in to save not only the girl’s father but another surfer as well, ensuring their safe return to shore. The spirit of community and camaraderie shines brightly in moments like these!
The reason for the discrepancy is unclear.
Warner, who passed away due to asphyxiation from drowning, received 45 minutes of cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) following his rescue from the ocean.
tragically, efforts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful; he was declared deceased on the spot by officials, and he was 54 years old.
On a beautiful day by Cocles beach in Limon, Costa Rica, the father and his daughter were having a delightful time on the water. However, unexpectedly, misfortune occurred.
The outlet noted that both surfers survived the harrowing ordeal on Sunday.
Warner’s representatives have not yet provided a comment following our request for one from DailyMail.com.

Before his death, Warner deliberately avoided putting his daughter and wife in the public eye, except for rare instances on social media.
For privacy reasons, he chose not to publicly disclose his daughter or wife’s names.
This past week, it was revealed that a man who is currently in a critical state was attempting to rescue an actor.
An official representative from the Judicial Investigation Agency (OIJ) disclosed that the Good Samaritan jumped into the water to assist Warner, who had been carried off by a strong undercurrent.
It’s been verified that the unknown 35-year-old individual, who had no prior relationship with the actor, happened to be on the beach when the actor encountered trouble. At that moment, they were not acquainted.
At Playa Cocles, situated within the Limon province, Warner found himself caught in an undertow that dragged him further out into the sea.
Emergency personnel from Costa Rica’s Red Cross discovered Warner unresponsive upon arriving at the site of a water-related accident approximately at 2:10 PM on Sunday.
According to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OIJ), a professional funeral service company, duly appointed and sanctioned by the Warner family, will handle the process of removing Warner’s remains from the morgue. I, as an ardent fan, eagerly await this final farewell, respecting the family’s wishes throughout this somber time.

Based on reports from TMZ, it’s expected that his remains will depart from Costa Rica on a Thursday flight, with their arrival slated for Los Angeles on the following Friday morning.
On Wednesday morning, it was reported by a source that the actor’s remains were handed over by the Medical Examiner’s Office after the conclusion of the autopsy.
After the sudden passing of Warner, the lifeguards from Playa Grande – a coastal beach community in Costa Rica – issued a statement explaining their absence was due to insufficient ‘assets’ or resources.
The Caribbean Guard, Costa Rica’s volunteer lifeguard association, expressed their deep sorrow over the unfortunate death of Malcolm-Jamal Warner at Playa Grande. He tragically lost his life due to drowning after being caught in a powerful rip current.
The events unfolded rapidly, and despite several individuals on the shore rushing into the water to save him, they unfortunately arrived too late.
‘He was rescued from beneath the water with no signs of life, but despite attempts at CPR on the shoreline, he couldn’t be revived.’
The Guard mentioned that Playa Grande is considered one of their particularly difficult beaches, pointing out that there are warnings in both English and Spanish about the risk of drowning leading to potential loss of life.
Despite having patrolled the area for several years, they claimed they were absent when Warner passed away.

They announced that because of the recent water-related accidents at Playa Negra and Chiquita, a well-known beach with powerful tides, resources have been reallocated to both locations, as stated in their communication.
They then made an appeal to Costa Rica’s president, Rodrigo Chaves Robles, and the government.
‘Caribbean Guard, a volunteer lifeguard organization, strongly urges the President of our Nation, the national government, the Talamanca Municipality, and the broader Caribbean community to collaborate further in addressing an alarming issue that is unfortunately spreading nationwide.’
‘We go all out in our efforts, striving to make a difference wherever we can. Over the past few years, we have managed to save countless lives, and if it weren’t for Caribbean Guard, the number of drownings would be significantly higher – perhaps even counted in the dozens. We put everything at stake to reduce risks, but without substantial government support, clear policies, and strong backing from local businesses, these tragic incidents will unfortunately persist.’
On a Sunday, an emergency call concerning a water-related incident reached the Costa Rican Red Cross from Playa Grande, Cahuita, Limón. Subsequently, they dispatched three ambulances to the location, according to reports by Us Weekly.
According to Costa Rica’s Judicial Investigation Department, their initial findings suggest that Warner seemed to have entered the ocean and possibly got carried away by a strong current.
Warner had been in Costa Rica since July 13.
Warner gained widespread recognition for playing the character Theodore Huxtable, the eldest son of Cliff Huxtable, in the popular NBC sitcom ‘The Cosby Show’.

Throughout the entirety of its run, from 1984 to 1992, he graced our screens in every single season, eventually gaining universal praise and securing a place in countless homes as a familiar figure.
During that period, Warner was still a young teenager, yet his exceptional performance garnered significant praise. This recognition included a nomination for the category of Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series at the 1986 Primetime Emmy Awards.
The character named Theo was modeled after Bill Cosby’s actual son, Ennis Cosby, and was skillfully played with both rich detail and tender emotion.
During his first year at New York University, the character Theo’s academic struggles led to a diagnosis of dyslexia, which struck a chord with numerous viewers as they related to this storyline.
Beyond The Cosby Show, Warner carved out a successful and diverse career in both comedy and drama.
He played the lead role of Malcolm McGee in the UPN sitcom “Malcolm & Eddie” (1996-2000), alongside Eddie Griffin, and later took the main role in BET’s “Reed Between the Lines” from 2011 to 2015, portraying Dr. Alex Reed.
In addition to his TV roles, he appeared frequently and occasionally on programs such as Sons of Anarchy, Jeremiah, The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, and Community. Furthermore, he lent his voice to the character of the Producer in the educational kids’ show The Magic School Bus.
