Steven Knight is set to write the latest James Bond movie, Amazon MGM Studios have confirmed.
A notable British writer, aged 65, may be most recognized for being the mastermind behind the critically acclaimed BBC crime series “Peaky Blinders,” which features Cillian Murphy in a leading role.
Now, he’s all geared up to contribute his skills to the enduring spy series by writing the script for the upcoming 007 movie. Interestingly, he has mentioned that this opportunity has long been on his list of things to accomplish before he “kicks the bucket.
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that the newest Bond adventure is underway! Renowned director Denis Villeneuve, known for his exceptional work on Dune, will be at the helm. This exciting project is now being overseen by Amazon MGM Studios, following the relinquishment of creative control by longtime producer Barbara Broccoli. The anticipation is building as we eagerly await more updates!
Simultaneously, Amy Pascal and David Heyman are set to produce the film through Pascal Pictures and Heyday Films respectively, with Tanya Lapointe taking on the role of executive producer.
Regarding his role in the movie, Steven shared with BBC Radio 5 Live Breakfast that it had long been a dream of his, and he was thrilled to have been asked to participate. He can hardly contain his excitement to begin working on it.

I’m confident that my long-standing affection for the Bond series will deeply influence me, enabling me to create something fresh yet reminiscent, improved, more powerful, and daring.
On the other hand, Steven didn’t offer any hints regarding who might take over Daniel Craig’s leading role.
In 2021, the 57-year-old actor chose to relinquish his long-held, emblematic spy character, having portrayed it in five movies across a span of fifteen years.
Several notable actors are being considered as potential candidates to fill his role, with names like Taron Egerton, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Paul Mescal, and Theo James being mentioned as possibilities.
In response to being asked about the potential new Bond character, he said, “That’s indeed an excellent question, but I’m afraid I can’t provide you with the answer.
In the previous adventure, James Bond appeared in No Time to Die, released in 2021. Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, and Cary Joji Fukunaga were part of the screenwriting team for this installment.
Regarding the recent movie project, here’s what Steven mentioned: “I received an invitation for a meeting with producer Amy Pascal, wasn’t aware of the topic initially, but soon found out and felt incredibly enthusiastic and optimistic.
Subsequently, a series of discussions ensue where thoughts are exchanged, and eventually, the solution is found.

‘So I found out a while ago but it was announced last night, which is great.’
He mentioned that the position was quite demanding, then went on to say: ‘You simply have to perform your tasks, and strive to do them as effectively as possible.’
After Taron Egerton addressed rumors suggesting him as a potential successor for James Bond following Daniel Craig’s departure.
There has been a lot of discussion over the past few months about potential actors for the role of James Bond, now that Amazon owns the franchise.
Taron Egerton, aged 35 and known for his role in Rocketman, has been speculated since 2019 as a potential candidate to play Bond. Geoffrey Moore, son of Sir Roger Moore, has also expressed support for Egerton to take on this iconic role.
Instead, Taron has dampened fan expectations by expressing his discomfort with the role, claiming that he finds it challenging to portray a smooth, sophisticated secret agent due to his messy nature.

‘I don’t think I’m a good choice for it, I think I’m too messy for that,’ he told Collider.
I’m quite fond of James Bond, especially Daniel Craig’s time as the character, yet I don’t believe I’d excel in that role myself.
‘There are numerous talented, younger actors that I believe would excel in this role. I suspect that the part might be better suited for them rather than myself.’
Taron himself admitted that assuming the role of Bond is a significant task, and he clarified that no one has yet offered him this opportunity.
He didn’t completely dismiss the idea of undertaking another significant business venture, for he mentioned that he wouldn’t reject a new prospect. However, he was secretive about what that potential opportunity could be.
