As a gamer with a soft spot for fantasy and adventure, I find myself quite excited about Dexter Sol Ansell’s new role in “500 Miles”. Having grown up watching Game of Thrones, it’s always a delight to see our beloved characters stepping into fresh roles. The thought of Egg and Arya crossing paths might have been a missed opportunity for this film, but I can’t help but imagine the sparks that would fly!

As a devoted “Game of Thrones” enthusiast, it’s always thrilling to learn about our favorite actors carrying on their craft in exciting new ventures. And today, I’ve got some intriguing news! According to The Hollywood Reporter, Dexter Sol Ansell, known for his role as the cantankerous squire Egg in HBO’s upcoming “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms” series, has joined the cast of an upcoming road trip movie titled “500 Miles.” This film revolves around two brothers on a quest to find their long-lost grandfather, and Dexter will portray one of these siblings named Charlie. Joining him in this journey is none other than Maisie Williams, who captivated us all with her unforgettable performance as Arya Stark on “Thrones.

Contemplating an intriguing scenario: What if bold characters Egg and Arya, known for their frankness, ever met? Regrettably, such an encounter isn’t depicted in the movie “500 Miles,” but it certainly makes for an engaging mental exercise now that we have a trigger for our thoughts. In this film, Williams portrays Kait, a character I suspect the two brothers, on their journey, might encounter. Alongside Ansell and Williams, the cast includes Roman Griffin Davis as Finn, Charlie’s older brother, Bill Nighy as their grandfather, and Clare Dunne and Michael Socha as well.

As a gamer, I’d say “500 Miles” is inspired by the book “Charlie and Me: 421 Miles From Home” penned by Mark Lowery. It seems they might have taken a scenic detour or two, adding an extra 79 miles to their journey. The storyline revolves around the characters Finn (played by Davis) and his lively little brother Charlie (Ansell), who embark on a thrilling voyage across land and sea, in search of their long-lost grandfather (Nighy) along Ireland’s breathtaking and rugged West Coast. This journey is not just about the destination, but the heartwarming experiences they gather along the way.

Actors Williams, Nighy, and Davis agreed to star in the movie “500 Miles” some time ago, while Ansell and others have only recently been added to the project this past week. Given that Ansell was previously occupied with “A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,” which finished filming in mid-September, it’s impressive he’s able to juggle projects so well. Speaking of which, I can’t help but wonder if Charlie will be bald for the movie since Ansell shaved his head for his role as Egg and I assume he hasn’t grown his hair back yet. We’ll find out when we get a look at stills or footage from the film, I suppose.

The movie titled “500 Miles” has begun filming in Ireland, marking the start of its production journey. Directed by Morgan Matthews, who previously worked on “X+Y”, this film is being produced by Origin Pictures, Port Pictures, and Minnow Films. Although a release date hasn’t been set since the movie is currently being filmed, look forward to it making its way to theaters sometime in 2025!
