Maisie Smith, 24, reveals that her long-distance relationship with Max George, 37, is ‘hard’ as she tours the UK while he is stricken with health woes following heart surgery

Maisie Smith has admitted that being in a long-distance relationship with Max George is challenging. She’s currently on tour in the UK while he recovers from heart surgery and is dealing with health issues.

The 24-year-old actress is currently performing in a stage adaptation of ‘The Talented Mr. Ripley.’ This follows a busy 2025 for her, which included a role in ‘The War of the Worlds’ alongside Max, 37.

The former EastEnders actress and The Wanted singer had a great time touring together, but she’s admitted to the Mirror that it’s difficult now that she’s touring without him.

She shared that working with Max was a great experience, and they both had fun, but being apart was challenging.

This was especially true earlier this week when Max was unexpectedly hospitalized Monday night. He posted a photo from the emergency room after experiencing several problems with his pacemaker.

The singer hasn’t said why he’s currently hospitalized, but he previously shared that he was treated for an irregular heartbeat twice within a single week last year.

In December 2024, he received a pacemaker after his mother, Babs, noticed he had turned blue and urged him to seek immediate medical attention at the emergency room.

He needed another surgery to correct a wire that wasn’t positioned correctly, and he’s been sharing updates with his fans about his ongoing hospital checkups.

Max shared a photo on Instagram Tuesday morning showing he’d been to the emergency room overnight, explaining he had a cannula in his arm.

In a photo shared with his fans, Max was shown sitting in the emergency room. He expressed his frustration, writing, ‘Seriously, this always happens in the middle of the night!’ He also mentioned his dog, Albert, with a worried tone.

In another photo, Max posted a selfie of his red face, mostly covered by a towel, with the caption ‘Running HOT.’

He recently had to go back to the hospital, and this visit follows another one just a few weeks ago for a scan.

Posting on his Stories, the musician shared a clip waiting outside an X-ray area in a hospital.

He captioned the upload: ‘Another scan…’ and then followed it up with an update on his visit.

He was walking through the hospital hallways and explained that he was back in the same building where he’d had all his heart surgeries. He admitted it didn’t feel good to be there again.

He explained that he recently had a chest scan because doctors found a problem with one of his lungs.

‘Should be fine. It’s just a precaution, but yeah. Back in my old second home.’

He signed off with a thumbs-up and a good weekend wish to his followers.
