Legendary basketball player Earvin “Magic” Johnson has been awarded a unique championship ring as a token of appreciation from Team Liquid, following their triumphant Dota 2 campaign at The International last year. Being an investor in the company that owns Team Liquid, aXiomatic, Johnson showcased this stunning ring on February 27th, and it now graces his collection along with other prestigious awards.

Legendary basketball figure and NBA Hall of Famer Earvin “Magic” Johnson was recently gifted an exclusive championship ring, thanks to Team Liquid and their remarkable Dota 2 triumph during the previous year’s The International tournament.

On February 27th, Johnson, who’s involved with aXiomatic’s Liquid ownership company, showcased his stunning new ring, now adding it to his impressive array of trophies amassed during his career as a player, owner, and investor in both sports and esports.

Johnson celebrates magic Liquid TI run with 17th ring

Today, Johnson was given the distinctive shield-shaped ring by Team Liquid and aXiomatic, expressing gratitude towards the organization via a post on X/Twitter. The ring boasts an intricate design with the Liquid emblem etched in blue and silver, while the exterior is adorned with sparkling diamonds.

Inside the boundary of the shield, there’s a golden section that carries the year (2024) and the team name. The outer ring likewise bears the team name along with Johnson’s nickname “Magic”. It’s a breathtaking artifact that strongly resembles a championship ring from either the NBA or NFL Superbowl.

The ring was crafted to honor Liquid’s impressive journey at TI 2024. The team, starting strong as one of the top seeds from the group stage, went on to deliver an immaculate playoff run, which included two unopposed victories against the highly favored Gaimin Gladiators.

Johnson exclaimed what a fantastic new piece he had for his collection,” he said, noting that it now boasts 17 items thanks to Liquid. Two of these were obtained from Liquid; one was awarded following their victory at TI 2017 in the lower bracket, where the KuroKy-led team fought valiantly to raise the Aegis.

As a devoted fan, I’m proud to say that the majority of his championship rings were earned while playing for the Los Angeles Lakers, accumulating five as a player and another five as part-owner. Since then, he’s expanded his horizons; back in 2016, Earvin “Magic” Johnson ventured into the exciting world of esports with an investment in aXiomatic – one of several strategic moves in the sports industry.

This individual, who is now 65 years old, presently co-owns several sports teams. They are part of the ownership group for the MLB’s Los Angeles Dodgers, the WNBA’s Los Angeles Sparks, the MLS’ Los Angeles FC, and the NFL’s Washington Commanders.
