Magic Chess: Go Go Tier List: Best Commanders
I’ve created this list by splitting the Commanders into two categories: those from Mobile Legends Bang Bang (MLBB) and others. I have extensive experience playing both Magic Chess mode and MCGG, so I’ve compiled a pre-global launch tier list for you. For your convenience, I have broken them down into three primary tiers: Strong (S), Good (A), and Average (B).
By doing this, it should make it easier for you to understand the relative strength of each Commander.
Tier | MLBB-based Commanders | Other Commanders |
---|---|---|
Strong (S) | Ling, Zilong, Wanwan, Kagura | Abe, Mavis, Buss, Rya, Tharz, Asta |
Good (A) | Layla, Nana, Vale, Angela, Moskov, Lukas | Ragnar, Eggie, Benny, Bersi, Austus |
Average (B) | Chou, Lancelot, Fanny, Guinevere | Pao, Yuki, Kaboom |
Best Commander in Magic Chess: Go Go
Best MLBB-based Commander – Ling
Ling makes a great choice as a commander in your matches, and it’s worth utilizing his strengths. At present, I believe he is one of the most powerful commanders available, enabling you to swiftly eliminate the most distant enemy hero. Typically, players place their strongest heroes at the farthest points in the final row, which greatly enhances Ling’s passive abilities.

Using Ling’s Showdown, he establishes a Combat Arena on the chessboard that persists for 25 seconds. You can position your most powerful character within this arena, and at the beginning of the fight, the enemy hero furthest away will be summoned to participate in a one-on-one battle. During this confrontation, both characters can only deploy basic attacks. If your character emerges victorious, they are granted bonuses to combat the other opponents on the chessboard.
Furthermore, the passive skill “Transcendent Stance” provides your hero with a permanent 4% boost in hybrid attack after victories. This bonus can stack up to 10 times for optimal results. To achieve better outcomes, consider utilizing a team composition of 6 Astro Power and 4 Swordsman characters.
Best Other Commander – Tharz
Tharz was initially quite annoying when introduced in Magic Chess mode due to his ability to consume the shop and produce extra heroes you already possessed. However, he proves to be just as powerful here. Although there are other valuable commanders not associated with MLBB, I personally find Tharz to be a superior choice.

Using the ability “Feast,” you can consume the Shop once the Commander’s capacity limit hits 9, which disables the Shop but awards extra copies of non-3 Star heroes you already possess each round. Notably, his passive, “Gluttony,” now provides an additional hero each round. For optimal performance, consider a 6 Northern Vale + 4 Summoner lineup.
Final Thoughts
To summarize, this commander rank list is designed to aid you in winning battles by pairing a strong commander with a capable team. Keep in mind that what works for others might not work for you, so don’t hesitate to tinker and find what fits your playstyle best. As of now, there isn’t a well-established meta in the game, but if you use them effectively, you can conquer your matches effortlessly. This could be considered as pre-meta stage.
