Magic Chess: Go Go Tier List: Best Commanders

I’ve organized this ranking system by separating the Commanders into two main categories: those from Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) and all others. As a seasoned player with extensive playtime in both Magic Chess mode and MCGG, I’ve compiled this pre-global launch tier list for your convenience. For simplicity, I’ve categorized them into three primary tiers: ‘Strong’ (S), ‘Good’ (A), and ‘Average’ (B).

Best Commander in Magic Chess: Go Go

Best MLBB-based Commander – Ling

Ling makes a great pick for Commander and is definitely worth using in your battles. I find him particularly powerful at the moment, enabling you to swiftly defeat the most distant enemy hero. Typically, players place their strongest characters in the back row’s farthest corners, which greatly enhances Ling’s passive abilities.

Using Ling’s Showdown ability, he establishes a Battle Arena on the chessboard that persists for 25 seconds. You can position your most powerful hero within this arena, and the enemy hero positioned farthest from it will automatically enter at the start of combat to engage in a one-on-one battle. In this duel, both characters are limited to using only their basic attacks. If your hero emerges victorious, they receive buffs to help them fight the other remaining enemies on the chessboard.

Furthermore, the passive skill called “Transcendent Stance” will provide your character with a permanent bonus of 4% additional hybrid attack power after winning a duel. This bonus can stack up to a maximum of 10 times for optimal results. It is recommended to use a team composition that includes 6 units with Astro Power and 4 units with Swordsman for best performance.

Best Other Commander – Tharz

As a dedicated fan, I found Tharz rather annoying when he debuted in Magic Chess mode due to his ability to swallow the shop and spawn extra copies of heroes you already had. Yet, it turns out he’s quite powerful in this game mode as well. Although there are other valuable commanders outside of MLBB, I personally think Tharz is a superior choice for me.

Utilizing the ability, “Feast,” allows you to consume the Shop once the Commander’s capacity limit hits 9. This action disables the Shop and awards extra copies of non-3 Star heroes that you already possess each round. His unique selling point is his passive, “Gluttony,” which currently provides an additional hero each round. For optimal performance, consider a 6 Northern Vale + 4 Summoner lineup configuration.

Final Thoughts

To wrap up, this commander rankings guide is designed to aid you in winning battles by pairing a potent Commander with an effective team. Keep in mind that what works for others might not work for you, so don’t hesitate to tinker with them and find what fits your playstyle best. At the moment, there isn’t a well-established meta within the game, but if you utilize them effectively, you can easily conquer matches.
