Fans of the esteemed actress Maggie Smith, including ourselves, now have the opportunity to catch her last film “The Miracle Club” on Netflix streaming service.
As a gamer residing in the UK or Ireland, I’ve got exciting news! You can stream a heartfelt 2023 dramedy that follows the journey of a group of working-class women from Dublin who miraculously win a pilgrimage to the spiritual town of Lourdes in France.
In order to find their individual wonders, they must put aside their disagreements and once again appreciate the value of their friendships.

In June 2023, this film premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. Following its premiere, it was released in cinemas in July, garnering a range of reviews that were generally favorable but sometimes critical.
Discussing our work together, O’Sullivan noted that Smith, unlike her esteemed character as the Countess Dowager Violet Crawley on Downton Abbey, displayed a completely different persona off-screen.
As a gamer, I’d say, “My in-game character might come off as stiff or ‘Downton Abbey-ish,’ what with her prickly and demanding demeanor. But as the game progresses, you’ll see a side of her that’s deeply vulnerable, humble, and filled with compassion.” I shared this insight with The Guardian during an interview.
The Miracle Club marked Smith’s final film role prior to her death in September 2024.
In the upcoming Downton Abbey film, known as The Grand Finale, the actor will receive an honorable and significant acknowledgment.
In the second movie, Countess Smith, known for her biting wit, sadly passed away. This makes the upcoming third installment all the more poignant, as both the characters and the actors grapple with their grief.
In an interview with TVLine last year, the film’s executive producer, Gareth Neame, expressed that since Dame Maggie has unfortunately passed away since then, it has added a profound and moving depth to a story we would have told regardless.
The Miracle Club is available to stream on Netflix in the UK and Ireland.
