Maggie Gyllenhaal revealed the key to her successful twenty-year marriage with actor Peter Sarsgaard.
The Donnie Darko star, 47, married the Orphan star, 54, in 2009 after meeting eight years earlier.
The couple later worked together in a film called In God’s Hands, directed by Steven Soderbergh, though it was never released. They also have two daughters: Ramona, who is 19, and Gloria, who is 13.
Maggie shared that she feels fortunate to share her life with her husband, an artist she deeply admires, explaining this is a key to their lasting connection.
She recently told the Sunday Times that she enjoys hearing his thoughts and learning about the challenges he faces.
After being with him for so long, I can tell when he’s tired of hearing me talk about whatever’s on my mind.

She explained that they should get to know each other without discussing work, as he seemed more interested in simply having a nice dinner than talking shop.
In early December, Peter, known for his role in the movie Flightplan, shared details about his lengthy marriage to Maggie in an interview with PEOPLE magazine.
We share the workload, giving each other space to contribute. It’s important to let people have their turn and then take your own.
‘There is great value in that,’ he told the publication.
The actress known for her role in White House Down is currently focused on her second film as director, titled The Bride!, which is scheduled for release in 2026.
She’s directing and producing a new movie that reimagines Frankenstein’s monster with a punk rock edge.
Christian Bale, age 51, and Jessie Buckley play Frankenstein’s monster and his bride in the new film, which also features Peter joining the cast.
Jessie, age 35, collaborated with Maggie on the film *The Lost Daughter*, a project that resulted in an Oscar nomination for Jessie.

Moreover, Penélope Cruz, 50, Annette Bening, 66, also play in the upcoming sci-fi thriller.
‘Here comes the mother f*****g bride,’ is The Bride’s newly released tagline, Variety reported.
The movie begins with a shocking scene: the bride tumbles down the stairs, then wakes up in a hospital operating room after suffering several broken bones, according to reports.
Though she gets fixed up, she’s now only good enough to be the monster’s lover.
A voice in the trailer says: ‘It wasn’t any accident, they did it on purpose.’
The movie *The Bride* will be available in the UK starting March 6, 2026, and will premiere in US theaters on September 26.
