Magda appeared on camera with a shaved head after beginning her treatment to fight cancer.
Greetings, dear ones. I’ve recently been informed that I’m dealing with a highly unusual, rapidly progressing, and severe type of lymphoma. As a precautionary measure, I’ve decided to shave my head, as I expect to lose my hair within the next few weeks due to this diagnosis.
Unfortunately, it’s a rather unpleasant situation. However, the bright side is that I’m enveloped by lovely friends, family, and an exceptional healthcare team.
To be quite honest, there’s nowhere better than right here in Australia, especially Melbourne. It truly makes me feel extremely lucky.

‘It can be quite intense, even overwhelming at times. Yet, there’s a steady stream of innovative solutions being developed continuously.’
Magda mentioned that she’s begun a therapy known as the Nordic protocol, designed specifically for Mantle Cell Lymphoma. This treatment reduces tumors using a blend of medications given across five distinct stages.
It’s known as the Nordic regimen based upon its clinical trial sites in Denmark and Norway.
The actress explained she will be ‘lying very low’ due to her weak immune system.
She didn’t mince words: things are tough right now, but there’s a silver lining. I’m surrounded by kindness from my friends, family, and an exceptional medical team. Never have I felt so supported by those around me.
‘Please keep a distance though because I will be very immunocompromised. So I can’t hug no more.
Keep a safe space between us, wave your admiration wildly instead of getting close! Rest assured, my adoration for you is boundless from afar.
The Kath & Kim star said the cancer was discovered during a routine breast screening.
She shared that the type of cancer she has is relatively uncommon, as it was identified accidentally during a routine mammogram when they noticed her lymph nodes appeared swollen.
To be honest, I’ve been experiencing a great deal of anxiety for quite some time now. Therefore, I decided to get additional blood tests done, and voilà! The moral of the story is: get yourself checked regularly and always pay attention to what your body is telling you!
At the moment, let me assure you that I’m being well taken care of, feeling upbeat – yet don’t forget, I still have the prerogative to act like an ornery old clam. Sending my love to each and every one of you, Magpie.
Over the past few years, I’ve faced some health challenges, but by the end of 2023, I am thrilled to share that I am no longer classified as pre-diabetic.
Or, in a more conversational tone:
Recently, I’ve been dealing with some health hurdles, but I’m excited to say that by the end of 2023, I’ve managed to shake off the ‘pre-diabetes’ label!
At that moment, the actress posted an update about her health on Instagram, along with a photo showing her indulgent morning meal.
She shared her newest breakfast creation: Scrambled eggs flavored with truffle oil, served atop gently sautéed cauliflower florets, seasoned with vegan Parmesan, salt, and pepper – simply delicious!
She then revealed the result of her blood tests.
She stated that her latest HbA1c blood test results are now within the normal range, having moved out of the pre-diabetes stage. However, she’s not flawless, but continues to strive for improvement.
2022 saw Magda appear noticeably troubled as she shared her personal struggle with emotional eating during a heartfelt conversation on ABC’s Big National Health Check.
In my latest conversation with esteemed weight management specialist Dr. Lucy Burns, I found myself grappling with a wave of empathy as she eloquently explained the heartbreaking truth: some individuals turn to binge-eating as a means to confront their emotional turmoil.
‘I think, really, that sense of sort of being able to forgive myself,’ she said tearfully.
‘Because I know people are like, “Why has she done that to herself?” And I felt I had no choice.
‘It was the only sane decision I could make, given the alternatives that I faced,’ she continued.
‘And then you become this, like, f***ing shame magnet.’
Magda added, “It feels as though you’re not permitted to retaliate or protect yourself.
‘You’re supposed to just hang your head again in shame and say, “I’ve brought this on myself.”‘
Previously, Magda discussed her multiple health issues during an interview on TV Week magazine, expressing curiosity about whether others might be facing the same challenges.
‘There are times in my life I’ve been absolutely blighted by illness,’ she said.
At that point, she mentioned that she deals with conditions like osteoarthritis, migraines, anxiety, and sleep apnea.
She went on to question, “Does anyone else share my feelings about this? Are others encountering the same difficulties as I am?” she inquired.
