Magda Szubanski gets emotional as she thanks family, friends and fans for their support after revealing her stage four cancer diagnosis: ‘The wind beneath my wings’

In response to being diagnosed with stage four cancer, Magda Szubanski has shown profound appreciation.

The popular Australian comedian, now 64 years old, who recently disclosed her struggle with Mantle Cell Lymphoma, expressed gratitude on Instagram towards her family, acquaintances, and followers for their heartfelt support.

In a video uploaded on Sunday, Magda expressed that she was deeply moved by the reaction to her recent announcement.

‘I just wanted to say a massive thank you for all the love and support,’ she said in the clip.

It’s been incredibly touching for me, and truthfully, you have been like the wind supporting my flight. Thank you so much; I appreciate you deeply. Unfortunately, I’m unable to respond at the moment.

‘It’s pretty overwhelming, but I just feel so loved.’

A week ago, Magda surprised her audience by disclosing that she is fighting an uncommon and rapidly progressing type of blood cancer.

She appeared on camera with a shaved head after beginning her treatment to fight the disease.

Greetings everyone. I’ve recently learned that I’m dealing with a rare, aggressive, and severe type of lymphoma. As a precautionary measure, I decided to shave my head, as it might start falling out in about two weeks,” she explained.

Unfortunately, it turns out to be a rather unpleasant situation. However, on a positive note, I am fortunate to have wonderful friends, family, and a remarkable healthcare team around me.

To be truthful, there’s no place quite like Australia, especially Melbourne, as it boasts the finest offerings globally. As a result, I consider myself incredibly lucky.

As a committed follower, I find it quite overwhelming, yet undeniably exciting. There’s always a steady stream of innovative treatments making their way towards us.

Magda mentioned that she’s begun a therapy known as the Nordic protocol, specifically designed for Mantle Cell Lymphoma. This treatment works by reducing tumors using a blend of medications given during five distinct stages.

It’s known as the Nordic regimen based upon its clinical trial sites in Denmark and Norway.

The actress explained she will be ‘lying very low’ due to her weak immune system.

She didn’t try to make it sound better: it’s tough, but I remain optimistic. The care I’m receiving from my loved ones and medical professionals is exceptional, and I’ve never felt more supported by those around me. That’s what she shared.

‘Please keep a distance though because I will be very immunocompromised. So I can’t hug no more.

Keep a safe distance, avoid hugging, kissing, or coming close. Instead, wave energetically and rest assured that my affection for you is intense!

The Kath & Kim star said the cancer was discovered during a routine breast screening.

I’ve been utterly captivated by this rare form of cancer that seemed to appear unannounced, unexpectedly spotted during a routine breast screening when it was noticed that my lymph nodes had swollen.

To be honest, I’ve been feeling quite out of sorts for a while now. So, I requested additional tests, and lo and behold, it turned out to be important. Therefore, the message here is clear: Get yourself checked regularly and always pay attention to your body!

Currently, I’m in capable care and high spirits, yet I maintain the prerogative to display my occasional grumpiness as an elderly molluss would. Sending love to everyone, Magpie.
