MAFS UK star welcomes her first child with her fiancé via IVF after three miscarriages and failed adoption bid – as she reveals baby girl’s sweet name

Jess O’Connor (formerly known as Jess Potter), a participant from the UK version of “Married At First Sight”, has recently become a mother for the first time alongside her partner, fiancé TJ O’Reilly.

In 2022, the dental hygienist who gained popularity on the E4 show announced her pregnancy, having endured four demanding rounds of IVF earlier this year.

Previously, Jess experienced three miscarriages and an unsuccessful adoption attempt. She has been candid about her struggle with infertility.

On Wednesday, Jess joyfully announced via Instagram that she and TJ had given birth to their daughter, Mia Jane O’Reilly, following a labor lasting 12 hours and a five-day hospital stay.

She posted a charming photo of newborn Mia, together with images taken from the hospital bed shortly after delivery.

After spending five days in the hospital, enduring four days of early labor, and twelve hours of active labor filled with a lot of yelling, she finally had the birth she had always dreamed of… Mia Jane O’Reilly was born at 4:51 am on July 23rd, weighing 6lbs 6oz. In every way, you are perfect.

23 hours prior, Jess posted a photo of herself dressed in a hospital gown, preparing for the start of labor.

She titled it: ‘I ventured into the waters at 8am, currently on a hormone infusion, received an epidural, and advanced just 2 centimeters over the past twelve hours. I’m now awaiting the doctor’s arrival.’

In January, Jess announced her pregnancy by posting a heartfelt video and saying: “After nearly 3 years, three unsuccessful IVF attempts, four losses, and countless injections… Our path has been marked by pain, anticipation, and determination. Yet today, we’re brimming with gratitude to reveal:

‘Our precious baby O’Reilly is due in July 2025! This tiny heartbeat shows us that dreams can indeed become reality, even if the journey seems lengthy.’

From Jess & Tom, here’s a heartfelt shout-out to all of you who’ve journeyed with us so far. To those patiently waiting, we acknowledge your presence and are eager to hear your tales. Sending you our warmest regards, we hold a special place for your stories in our hearts. Lots of love, Jess & Tom 💕.

Jess set up a GoFundMe page to raise £10k for the successful IVF round in February of last year.

At that moment, she chose to share on social platforms that she intended to seek financial assistance from the general public to cover her treatment costs, as her attempts with In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) had been unsuccessful on three occasions.

A few days following the disclosure of their failed adoption bid with partner TJ O’Reilly, she turned to social media platforms like Instagram and TikTok to announce that they had decided to seek financial assistance from the public, having already invested £15k on three attempts and tragically losing three babies.

Oh my gosh, I was absolutely crushed to hear that Jess has been facing such horrific treatment from her followers. After her big announcement, it’s just heartbreaking to see some people calling her a freeloader and telling her to save her own cash. It’s beyond unkind and unfair.

In the face of criticism, she surprisingly managed to raise an impressive £1,825 towards her £10k target from 164 supporters within just 17 hours of launching her campaign. She’s now still seeking donations from her fan base.

Jess, who got engaged to TJ in October, has openly shared her experiences related to fertility, as seen on her social media platforms, where she’s chronicled her unsuccessful attempts at In Vitro Fertilization (IVF).

Previously this week, she disclosed that their adoption efforts had unsuccessful due to their relatively short-term relationship status, prompting her to launch a GoFundMe campaign.

On Instagram, she posted a selfie alongside her partner, accompanied by the caption: “Here we go! Launching a GoFundMe campaign. We’re not asking out of expectation, but if you can help us, it would mean another chance for us with IVF.

To proceed, we require additional tests that collectively amount to around £2000. Moving our embryos to another clinic, along with the necessary procedures, would also incur significant costs. Following this, a new IVF method will be implemented, and if all goes well, there may be a fourth (and hopefully final) transfer.

Hoping for our fairytale ending. Ever since, my deepest desire has been to become a mother, and I truly yearn for another chance at fulfilling that role!

I could really use some assistance! If you can lend a hand in any way, shape or form, I would be most appreciative! Rest assured, I will keep everyone informed about the progress. You’ll find the link to donate in my bio if you feel inclined.

On our GoFundMe page, Jessica wrote: “Greetings, I’m Jessica. For the last two years, my partner Tom and I have been striving to start a family. Unfortunately, we’ve faced difficulties…

Three rounds of In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) have occurred for us, yet each resulted in three miscarriages. Our dream has always been to start a family, but the reality is that we’ve invested more than £15,000 and don’t have any remaining savings… We are eager to try again, however, our financial situation is quite challenging at this point.

Repeating In-Vitro Fertilization (IVF) is extremely expensive, and following three unsuccessful pregnancies, additional examinations will be necessary at great cost in order to determine the reasons behind our inability to achieve a successful pregnancy.

After identifying the potential source of all this distress, we’d be eager for another attempt at In-Vitro Fertilization.

Moving our embryos to a different clinic that focuses on recurrent pregnancy loss will likely be necessary, but it’s important to note that this option can be quite expensive once more.

Should anyone find a means, big or small, that could bring us closer to the dream of perhaps welcoming a new family member to share and enrich our lives, we would express profound gratitude. Thank you for your time and consideration. x

‘My deepest desire has always been to become a mother, but these last two years have been incredibly tough for me. They’ve left me feeling drained and the financial strain only adds to my heartache. If anyone can offer assistance, we would be truly grateful. #FightingForMotherhood’

I’ll keep you informed with frequent updates about our upcoming tests, their results, and I’m optimistic that we might initiate another round of IVF before the summer break. Thank you once more <3.
