MAFS Stars Struggle After Fame
The fame gained from participating in reality TV shows like Married At First Sight often leads to professional difficulties for its participants, as many find themselves jobless or unable to find work post-show.
From the ongoing series, four actors – Jacqui Burfoot, Ryan Donnelly, Adrian Araouzou, and Tim Gromie – are struggling to secure employment as they strive to resume their regular lives.
As a lifestyle advisor, I’d put it this way: In my professional journey, much like Jacqui Burfoot, I found myself facing an unexpected turn when my public image on a popular platform sparked intense scrutiny from the masses. Consequently, I made the tough decision to step away from my thriving legal career.
In response to the criticism she faced following an edit, a 29-year-old individual shared with Sky News that she was compelled to take a break from her responsibilities due to the impact on her health.
Jacqui shared that she had resigned from her job, and later found herself attempting to return, but due to mental distress, she was unable to perform her duties effectively.
‘Due to the emotional distress and trauma I went through, my medical condition didn’t allow me to carry out my job duties properly.’
Jacqui added she is considering changing her name and appearance to resume her professional career.
Simultaneously, her former television husband Ryan Donnelly, aged 36, stepped down from his position as a Project Manager the previous year to participate in Married at First Sight, according to Yahoo’s reports.
Since quitting the show, it appears he hasn’t found permanent work yet and instead, he’s taking on occasional jobs while aiming for a future in acting.
Just like Tim Gromie’s profession as a primary school teacher, it too faces uncertainty due to criticism from viewers and concerns raised by parents at the schools where he had prior employment.
The contentious refusal to marry Katie Johnston during the wedding ceremony sparked a great deal of anger, and there is doubt about whether he will resume his teaching duties.
Ultimately, it seems that the sports bag brand PAKD Sport by Adrian Araouzou isn’t thriving, as its social media activity has noticeably decreased.
Additionally, the popular dessert account run by Adrian, known as Sweet Sundayz, in collaboration with his ex-best friend Jasmin Weston, was removed and their friendship subsequently dissolved.
Following Jacqui’s disclosure about her struggle with mental health during filming and her attempt to step away from the show, I too, as a dedicated follower, can empathize deeply with her experience. It serves as a reminder that behind every performance lies a human story, and it’s crucial we prioritize mental well-being above all else.
In a recent interview, the 29-year-old expressed that she reached a point where she felt utterly incapable of taking decisions on her own due to the challenging circumstances she encountered.
She also admitted to feeling ‘unstable’ and resorting to locking herself in a private room.
Jacqui revealed her heartbreaking experience during a chat with Yahoo Lifestyle.
During the production process, my mental state wasn’t in a good place. This isn’t meant to be humorous or a jest; it was a genuinely challenging and embarrassing situation for me, as if I had become an object of ridicule.
I find it quite tough on me; it’s no walk in the park. It’s also quite humiliating, and many might prefer staying in bed rather than facing such difficulties.
During the filming process, Jacqui found herself weeping so profusely that she needed to secure a separate room for herself. For a while, she hesitated to continue with the shooting due to her overwhelming emotional state.
She expressed that she felt stuck, unable to move, longing for rest, and desiring solitude, as she put it.
Things seem unclear to me, I’m feeling puzzled. I need some time to understand the situation better and figure out my next steps.
