Previously featured contestant of “Married At First Sight,” Mike Gunner, is trying love again after his questionable participation in the show in 2019, yet it appears that his personal history continues to cling to him.

The character from the third season of Stan’s Love Triangle, who is now 50 years old, came back to reality TV with the aim of clearing his name and hopefully finding a more suitable partner in Melinda. This decision followed harsh criticism he received from Australians for making allegedly misogynistic remarks on Married at First Sight.

However, during his initial outing with Melinda, where he attempted to reenact his unsuccessful beach date with Heidi Latcham from Married at First Sight, Mike ended up feeling embarrassed when he mentioned his participation in the show, as Melinda admitted she was unfamiliar with him.

Mike expressed his unease, saying to the producers, “I’m a bit on edge. I’m unsure if Melinda remembered me from MAFS, as she seemed unfamiliar during our initial meeting at the beach.

She appeared calm. However, I can’t keep this secret forever; sooner or later, I’ll need to reveal it.

Then, the shot transitions to an awkward instance where Mike tried to query Melinda about whether she recognized him from television shows.

He paused in their shared moment, gazing at the water, and then asked, “I was thinking of inquiring about something unusual. Does anyone come to mind when you see me?

‘No,’ Melinda said with a confused expression. 

‘No? Really?’ Mike pushed.

‘Are you supposed to remind me of someone? Do I know you?’ Melinda responded.

‘No, I just thought I’d ask,’ Mike said with a chuckle.

Melinda emphasized again, “Nope, not at all.” To this, Mike responded positively with, “Got it,” but later confided in the production team that he was astonished to find out she didn’t recognize him.

He suggested, “Perhaps she’s not sharing it with us. It’s tricky to tell for sure,” he remarked. “It might be due to my hat concealing it. Once I remove the hat, she may reveal it, saying something like, ‘Ah, there it is.’

During his stint on season six of MAFS, Mike was unable to win over the hearts of Australian viewers or his spouse, Heidi (aged 42), who remained unimpressed by him.

Six years ago, during their time together on The Nine experiment, Mike and Heidi showed undeniable romantic attraction. This seemed to indicate that they were meant for a lifelong relationship.

He became visibly impatient and told her: ‘Find a conclusion at some point.’

In the meantime, Heidi shared with 9Honey that she’s now granted him forgiveness, yet she candidly admitted that Mike’s indifferent behavior during their honeymoon felt like a harsh rebuke or a severe blow.

After the broadcast of his controversial MAFS beach date, Mike openly confessed that he felt remorseful about his behavior.

At that specific instant, there was something that caused me to completely lose control, and I can’t provide a satisfactory explanation for it,” he explained.

He mentioned that multiple aspects affected his actions, such as feeling unwell at sea, being dehydrated, and having drunk a few glasses of champagne.

He explained that the topic we were discussing left him feeling a bit overloaded, and for some reason, neither the timing nor the setting worked well for him. Additionally, he admitted that he became somewhat impulsive, but he wasn’t sure why.

Mike and Heidi’s intense yet tumultuous relationship was marked by several disagreements, where Heidi often found herself distressed due to his harsh words.

Fans of Married at First Sight (MAFS) in Australia and the UK frequently alleged that Mike manipulated Heidi with his words, and that he made disrespectful comments towards other brides, which can be seen as a form of misogyny.

On the show, Brides Martha Kalifatidis and Cyrell Paule notoriously engaged in heated arguments. However, when the experts questioned them about any lessons learned from their numerous disagreements, Mike surprisingly interjected with surprising comments.

I’d like to highlight a couple of points. In my opinion, when faced with stress, women in groups tend not to handle it as effectively as men do in similar situations.
