MAFS Shocker: Carina’s Heartbreaking Vows Leave Paul in Tears and Crew in Disbelief!

The heartrending instance of taking Final Vows on Married At First Sight is destined to be remembered – the impact was so profoundly emotional that it reduced Paul Antoine to tears.

Even members of the production team were in tears, or close to it.

In a series of personal photographs I took, the emotionally raw culmination of Paul’s stormy marriage with Carina Mirabile was vividly portrayed, offering a candid, real-time account of events.

Including the split second everything came crashing down. 

In an opulent estate’s garden teeming with roses, fuchsia orchids, and hydrangeas in lavender hues, what was meant to initiate an eternal love story instead turned out to be the most ruthless break-up of the season – a separation that might go down as one of the show’s darkest moments.

Some moments were so raw and distressing, I understand they won’t be broadcast. 

Carina, aged 31, graced the scene with an ethereal air of retribution, adorned in a stunning, single-shouldered gown made of shimmering silver fabric that hugged her physique gracefully as it danced in the sunlight of early afternoon.

Her makeup was impeccable, featuring well-groomed eyebrows, a delicate smoky effect around the eyes, and a natural-toned lipstick. Her dark, lengthy hair was elegantly arranged in an aristocratic bun, with loose strands cascading to frame her face.

Paul, aged 30, radiated optimism while adorning a sharp, white suit, his hair styled sleekly, and a carefully arranged pocket square.

He tightly held onto his promises with a touch of anxiety, oblivious that they were moments away from being broken into pieces for all the nation to witness.

‘You had me… and you lost me.’

The ceremony began like many others on MAFS, with Paul going first, reading his vows with optimism.

Based on reports from the production team, he enthusiastically spoke of their initial bond, looking back fondly at their honeymoon in Vanuatu, the laughter they enjoyed together, and the intensity of their connection during their “Intimacy Week.

He admitted to making mistakes but said he was committed to becoming a better man for Carina.

He even revealed plans for them to move to Sydney together after the show ended.

Then it was Carina’s turn.

Initially, the narrative was gentle and heartwarming, detailing their voyage; however, it escalated into a passionate, intense discourse that left Paul stunned.

‘You had me. I was yours,’ she began, holding back tears.

I poured out everything about me, revealing aspects that I had kept concealed for a long time. I opened up and trusted you… I allowed myself to have faith in you once more.

Paul smiled as she spoke. He thought he was about to get his fairytale ending.

Her voice shifted.

However, your actions left me feeling insignificant, vulnerable, and less than adequate.

Carina went on to recount, one by one, the incidents that broke her.

‘When you hit the door in response to something I mentioned, when you shared my personal comments with Awhina and the others, and when you went on that “plan B” date claiming it was just out of curiosity – those were instances that made me understand clearly – you haven’t matured; you haven’t evolved; you don’t deserve to be with me.’

Then came the line that broke him.

‘You’re going to have to live with that regret for the rest of your life. Goodbye, Paul.’

Paul’s collapse

There were no retakes or rehearsals. The actions and emotions that followed were genuine and spontaneous, much like what you’d see on unscripted reality television.

Paul stood motionless, his eyes wide with shock, his lips quivering, as he rapidly blinked back tears. Her sobs filled the air as they both broke down in tears, the gravity of her statement becoming painfully clear.

They quickly resolved their issue with a warm embrace, but Paul held onto her tightly, as if he was hanging onto a cliff’s edge. He murmured words into her ear. However, Carina delicately disengaged from his hold.

‘I can’t,’ she said, her voice cracking.

In that very moment, as she strolled off with her sacred promises clutched tight, I found myself deserted in an ocean of roses, my cherished dreams lying in ruins at my feet, a solitary admirer struck by the harsh reality of love lost.

In the pictures I took, it appears that Paul is attempting to regain his composure; his facial expression fluctuates between shock and sorrow.

As Carina strolled off, he extended a hand toward her, seemingly about to speak her name, but remained silent instead. Eventually, he crumbled with emotion.

‘Nobody knew what to do’

Ignoring the crew and producers, Paul walked away.

He ventured along a garden walkway and into a hidden, bushy nook that was tucked away from the cameras, actors, and Carina.

He collapsed onto a wooden bench, buried his face in his hands and sobbed.

Initially boasting an air of pride and assurance, the man who declared his undying affection and commitment to last a lifetime, found himself overcome with sorrow and unable to be comforted.

Nobody knew what to do.

Producers hovered nearby but stayed back to let him process the moment.

Later, a crew member shared with me that it was the most authentic moment they had experienced on the program. Everyone seemed to be on edge, almost holding their breath.

In due time, a seasoned producer hurriedly approached him, stooping beside the bench for a hushed conversation.

But Paul couldn’t stop crying. He wiped his tears on the sleeve of his white blazer. 

The lead-up: ‘He had no idea’

According to my sources, it appears that Paul entered his Final Vows with a sense of optimism concerning what lies ahead.

Earlier in the week, he confided in another person that he was deeply smitten and eagerly anticipating beginning a genuine life with Carina in Sydney.

‘He had no idea,’ one insider reveals.

He expected her to point out a few issues, but believed the outcome would be joyful. However, he was taken aback as she sprung something on him unexpectedly. Yet, others had predicted the situation.

In the time preceding her final vows, Carina was said to have been notably reserved, deep in thought, and introspective. She confided in the production team that she had penned her vows on three separate occasions, struggling to decide the extent of her commitment.

Until the very end, she was unsure about what action to take. She sought guidance from her mother, Carmel, who advised her to follow her instincts instead.

In the end, she chose to express her honest feelings, ensuring that love didn’t distort the genuine experiences she had gone through.

The aftermath

Towards the end of the day, there’s a solitary scene where Carina is depicted strolling over the lawn, her silvery dress catching the sunlight, her figure facing away from the man who used to hold her affection.

Then, the world of actuality transitioned into Reality Television, and before she knew it, a producer had hastily summoned her for a shoot, requesting her participation in a ‘voxxie’ recording.

Paul stayed rooted on the bench, trembling for nearly twenty minutes, until the producers guided him off to capture his segment in front of the camera.

Insiders tell me that Paul and Carina didn’t speak for weeks afterwards.
