MAFS Groom’s Shocking Late-Night Text During Honeymoon Sparks Outrage and Accusations!

A female participant on Married at First Sight disclosed a surprising communication she got from groom Tim Gromie while they were both on their honeymoon with partner Katie Johnstone.

In 2024, during the airing of season 11 of Married at First Sight, Eden Harper disclosed that she received a message from Time during the honeymoon week filming in August.

On TikTok, Eden clarified that at first, she assumed Tim was asking for advice while he was on the program.

His belief arose following his viewing of her Yahoo interview where she shared insights about her journey on the dating show.

During the week of Married at First Sight 2025, while on our honeymoon, I received a message that I initially assumed was seeking advice. However, after watching last night’s episode, it’s become clear how inappropriate and disturbing it truly is.

On a weekend past midnight, Tim’s message stated: “Hi! Listening to that interview on Yahoo was really rejuvenating. At the moment, I’m involved in ‘Married at First Sight.’ I must admit, I’m quite unsure about it all. Looking forward to clearing up my thoughts soon.

Eden responded with a delay, at 6 am, saying: “Hi there! I hope everything is going well for you. Life can sometimes be tough.

Previously married MAFS participant is not alone in receiving messages from the latest groom, as multiple viewers have confessed that they too have frequently observed Tim on various dating platforms.

In a video posted by That’s Showbiz podcast, hosted by Alexandria Funnell, it was disclosed that she had encountered Tim on dating platforms more recently. Women then commented and divulged their own experiences with him.

Last year, I went out with him, but the pictures he had were decades old and bore little resemblance to him.

Instead of seeking a friendship with benefits, he was only interested. When I refused and departed within five minutes, he didn’t handle it gracefully. Before I could even initiate an unmatching, he had already done so, right there in the parking lot.

‘I used to see him on there years and years ago! Constantly!’ another added.

‘Same! I said the same thing!!!!’ one said.

Another person exclaimed, “I can relate! How unfortunate,” in response to which the podcast channel commented, “Apparently, he’s quite active on dating apps.

They remarked, “It seemed as if he assumed he could simply sweep Katie off her feet in reality.” He found it challenging because he wasn’t accustomed to interacting with people and forming genuine connections. This perfectly illustrates the point made in the opening episode when they discussed how troublesome the online dating scene can be these days.

Exclusive information from Daily Mail Australia, shared in August, disclosed an incident where a groom found himself in a tricky situation due to private messages he had sent to past Married At First Sight participants for advice, without the knowledge of his partner.

On set, the messages shared through Instagram caused a bit of surprise, since the groom was asking for guidance about managing the high-stress situations that came with the production.

However, it was his alleged intention to act independently, a decision which had the potential to disrupt the entire season, that caused great concern.

Based on information from someone involved in the production, it appears that he has expressed his belief of being manipulated by the producers, despite us just starting the second week of filming. This situation is creating a significant amount of stress on the set.

An insider source hinted that the groom is proving challenging to handle, and there are ongoing talks about potentially taking him off the production.

‘He’s treating his bride terribly,’ the source continued.

It’s quite distressing to observe that their current living setup is causing discomfort, and it seems they aren’t treating the situation with the seriousness it deserves.

The source added, ‘He seems to prioritize using his brief period of notoriety over truly sustaining his marriage.’

On Tuesday evening during the Married at First Sight episode, it became apparent in a flash to 38-year-old Tim that Katie Johnstone, aged 37, wasn’t the woman he had hoped for, as they stood at the altar together.

Even though Katie greeted Tim with a friendly grin and tried to make things comfortable by giving him a hug, he moved away instead, causing her to feel embarrassed and puzzled.

Or:
Although Katie attempted to initiate a friendly conversation with a warm smile and a welcoming hug, Tim responded awkwardly, leaving her feeling uncomfortable and perplexed.

At an unexpected instance during their wedding celebration, Tim privately confided in a producer about his feelings of annoyance.

‘Totally not what I wanted. Not good,’ Tim declared bluntly.

As a connoisseur of aesthetics, I typically gravitate towards women with a compact frame, light or dark hair. However, Katie, who is quite different from my usual type, does not resonate with me in that way. From the get-go, I can sense there’s no spark.

Tim went on expressing his disappointment about not having a strong connection, admitting that he felt ‘broken-hearted’ and ‘ashamed’ following the game.

‘I feel like I’ve wasted my time. I just want to run away,’ he admitted.

On the night of their wedding, Tim hesitated to share his displeasure with Katie openly, instead choosing to protect her emotions by not speaking up immediately.

Eventually, he chose to share the truth with her privately, away from the camera’s eye, and proposed that they might as well skip their honeymoon trip to Tasmania.

Katie received a devastating setback, as she had previously shared her challenges in finding love and feeling unappreciated due to her looks prior to the wedding.

In my role as a lifestyle guide, I’d rephrase that sentence like this: On what should have been a joyous occasion, I managed to maintain an optimistic outlook until Tim confided in me about his lack of feelings towards me.

Prior to the event, Katie had a chat with the renowned relationship consultant, John Aiken, discussing her concerns rooted in an old romance that had left her feeling insecure.

With a quiver in her voice, she shared, ‘A vivid recollection I carry is that of me in a swimming pool, adorned in a bikini, surrounded by my loved ones.’

In a surprising encounter, my former partner stood above me, casting a disapproving gaze. He inquired, “Could you shed some pounds?” The comment left me shattered and filled with embarrassment. I found myself unable to leave the pool.

Katie detailed how the encounter influenced her apprehensions about being rejected, stating instead, “Now, for the first time, I feel confident enough to move ahead as someone worthy of affection and prepared for it.

Tim’s hesitation about the relationship mirrored that of character Eliot Donovan, who got married during the first episode of the show.

Previews for the upcoming episode reveal him leaving the experiment, following his statement that his genetically-matched spouse, Lauren Hall, fell short of his stringent expectations.

He stated that Lauren, being 37 years old, was considered too mature for his preference, as he typically dates women who are below the age of 30. Additionally, he found her overly focused on high-end luxury items, which made him perceive her as excessively superficial.

Married At First Sight continues Wednesday at 7.30pm on Channel Nine and 9Now
