MAFS: Clint Blasts Ryan for Sleeping with His Wife Jacqui, Reveals Brutal Truth
It was meant to be an opportunity to find love.
Instead, MAFS intruder Clint Rice found himself trapped in a television spectacle where contestants were manipulated, threatened and edited beyond recognition.
Currently, Clint is giving an unprecedented interview where he candidly discusses the reality of the show. He talks about feeling disconnected from his public relations team and even mentions that there were implied threats from certain producers should he choose to leave.
But most importantly, the 43-year-old businessman is speaking out about his deep concern for his girlfriend Jacqui Burfoot, the woman he fell for after the show – and how she has been unfairly portrayed in her on-screen marriage to Ryan Donnelly.
Inside Clint’s relationship with Jacqui
In the midst of all the turmoil involving producers, castmates, and his partner Lauren Hall, Clint remains joyful – as he has discovered love in Jac-Jac-Jacqui.

‘We didn’t want to be smug about it or throw it in anyone’s face. We wanted to handle things respectfully,’ Clint says of their relationship.
He made sure to have a face-to-face conversation with Ryan, avoiding any hint of a contrived scene, as the news was to be shared privately between them.
But he quickly adds: ‘Ryan tried to spin it as though we were mates – but we weren’t. We didn’t know each other before the show, and we won’t know each other after.’
Things are already getting serious for Clint and Jacqui, who are keen for a fresh start once the dust has settled on MAFS. She has already moved in with him in Tasmania.
‘We moved in with strangers on MAFS, so why not do it in real life, on our terms?’ Clint tells me.
‘She put everything on the line to make this work. I’m so glad she did.’
‘Jacqui is nothing like what they are showing’
However, although Clint seems to have left behind the turmoil of the series, he finds it difficult to disregard the way his partner is depicted on nationwide broadcasts.

It’s a challenging viewing experience, as I find it difficult to reconcile the characters on screen with their true selves, and Jacqui seems to be taking the brunt of it.
Clint says the edit has made Jacqui seem ‘unstable and all over the place’. In reality, he says, she is ‘an intelligent, driven woman with a double degree in law and finance’.
‘She’s smart, successful, and a great role model for young women – but they’re painting her as some kind of villain. It’s disgusting,’ he adds.
He also says that before entering the experiment, he had been warned about Jacqui by bride Rhi Disljenkovic, but would later realise those rumours were baseless.
‘Rhi shared a lot of thoughts about Jacqui with me. However, I now realize that those comments were merely sour and unkind. When I finally met Jacqui myself, I discovered she was nothing like the negative image people had painted,’ he confides in me.
Surprisingly, it was his on-screen wife Lauren who backed Jacqui from the outset, calling her ‘one of the smartest girls in here’.
Editing tricks made me look weak
For Clint, watching back his journey on MAFS has been confronting and frustrating.
‘The commitment ceremonies were especially hard to sit through,’ he tells me.
‘They spread the idea that I was a pushover, a person who lacked assertiveness when dealing with Lauren.’
A recurring theme of the show was Clint not being enough of an ‘alpha male’ for Lauren. In one particularly bizarre moment, she castigated him for doing chores around their apartment in her absence.
A moment that left him particularly rattled was the infamous ‘shut the f**k up’ incident. The edit made it appear as though he directed the comment at co-star Jamie Marinos, but Clint insists that wasn’t the case.

‘I was saying it to the whole group because they were all coming at us,’ he clarifies.
‘If I had actually said it to Jamie in front of the experts, I’d have been called out immediately.
‘That’s not what happened. But the magic of editing changed the entire meaning.’
‘The experts perform for producers’
As a lifestyle connoisseur, allow me to share a surprising revelation I recently uncovered regarding the behind-the-scenes dynamics of our beloved experts: John Aiken, Mel Schilling, and Alessandra Rampolla. I suspect they might have been subtly guided by producers in their delivery of advice and insights on the show.
‘They sit on the couch with earpieces in, waiting for words to come through from production. It’s not counselling. It’s not even a conversation. It’s scripted entertainment,’ he claims.
Contestants shared deep emotions, but were left in quiet anticipation as they awaited further guidance from the specialists after doing so.
‘It’s all orchestrated.’

Clint’s breaking point at the retreat
At the infamous couples’ retreat, a heated argument ensued among Clint, Lauren, Jamie, and Dave Thomas, escalating the overall tension to its maximum level.
‘Jamie and Dave were towering above us, shouting, gesturing wildly, using harsh language. In response, I told them to calm down because the situation was becoming chaotic,’ Clint explained.
‘I shouldn’t have sworn – but what else do you do when you’re being screamed at?’
He asserts that he apologized to Jamie numerous times, both on-set and off-camera, yet these instances were not broadcasted.
The person is saying that the audience only sees what the production team wants them to see, and in this specific situation, they were directed to appear negatively.

Production threats: ‘If you leave, we’ll ruin you’
One intriguing disclosure that emerged during our conversation was when Clint shared that he and Lauren had tried to exit the experiment prematurely, but were confronted with unsettling threats instead.
He asserts that we had finished our commitment, but desired to depart. However, we received a call from Nine, threatening that if we exited prematurely, they would turn us into the most vilified pair on Australian television.
Fearful of how their exit would be edited, Clint and Lauren decided to stay.
‘Looking back, we should have just walked. They stitched us up anyway.’
‘This show will end in tragedy if nothing changes’
Clint cautions that Married at First Sight (MAFS), currently airing on its twelfth season on Channel Nine, is nearing a critical juncture.
‘Every year, they push the drama further. If nothing changes, it’s only a matter of time before someone takes their own life because of this show. And it will be on their hands,’ he warns.

He also slams production for failing to remove contestants displaying aggressive behaviour – referencing Paul Antoine’s outburst when he punched a wall in front of his on-screen wife Carina Mirabile.
Clint said that if we made a fist and acted inappropriately during the show, we would be asked to leave.
‘But a guy punches a wall in front of a woman and gets to stay? The double standards are insane.’
The future for Clint and Jacqui
Despite the chaos of MAFS, Clint and Jacqui are now focused on building a future together.
‘We’re looking forward to life beyond the show,’ he tells me.
‘We’re focusing on business, on each other – and on leaving this experience behind us.’
And as for wedding bells and babies?
‘Stay tuned. You never know what’s around the corner!’

Jamie and Veronica: did they bang? THE MAFS RECAP
By Eliza McPhee
Carina gives Paul the ‘ick’ and supposed ‘Mr Nice Guy’ Dave has now found himself to be the biggest villain of them all as MAFS enters its final weeks.
This week, the two most powerful pairs on the show, Carina and Paul, as well as Dave and Jamie, disintegrated after the ineffective ‘swap partners’ task.
But before any of that even unfolded, one couple, Lauren and Clint, opted to leave the experiment.
Lauren took the opportunity to throw out a flurry of insults, once again referring to the group as ‘boganic’ and ‘classless’.
Managing this situation is really exhausting mentally. You’re being rather inappropriate, could you please stop talking to me? Is there a curtain we can use to separate ourselves?” she requested.
Her sidekick Clint also told Jamie to ‘shut the f**k up’ before the pair revealed they had both chosen to leave.

With a decisive action, Lauren scribbled “Leaving the Zoo” on her note, causing quite a commotion among her co-caged companions.
All the other couples decided to stay, including on-again, off-again Awhina and Adrian.
Adrian discussed weekend plans with Awhina, and she found it pleasant that he wanted to spend time with her.
The bar is quite literally on the floor.
It appears that the relationship between Jacqui and Ryan is somewhat solid – at least it seems that way – as Jacqui appears to be pleased by Ryan’s compliments about her intelligence.
‘It’s important because nobody ever sees me for what I am because I’m like a hot model,’ she said.

Veronica and Eliot also chose to give it another week despite the fact they quite clearly hate each other and V’s admission she put on a different personality during the retreat.
Over the ensuing days, each couple participated in the “switch partners” activity, which involved them being matched with a new bride and groom.
Obey the directions that John Aiken highlighted; don’t go astray)
Carina broke down in tears when she found out that her husband was going to be partnered with Awhina, who shares a similar appearance with Cleo, his previous girlfriend’s twin sister.
Paul assured Carina there was nothing to worry about which I’m sure worked a charm especially when he accidentally referred to Awhina by her sister’s name.
Carina had just one rule: they wouldn’t sleep in the same bed. Paul respected this, but it stirred some concerns within him regarding their relationship, as he noticed an unexpected jealousy from his partner.

This coming from the man who literally punched a hole in a door after his wife joked about a rapper she’d slept with long before they even met.
At the same time, Beth found herself teamed up with Ryan, who had recently expressed that he saw no refinement in her when she enquired about his choice of weightlifting over spending time with his partner. He had used the phrase “pumping iron” instead of referring to his wife’s affection.
To Jacqui’s great joy, she was matched with Jeff, the man she had contacted seeking guidance on her personal relationship – however, under the condition that he not disclose this to his spouse Rhiannon.
Jacqui arrived with a dress that needed steaming, which Jeff happily took care of while also preparing dinner and treating her to meals. Green with envy, Ryan.
Veronica was matched up with Dave, also her top pick.
‘I’d be better matched with Dave and everyone else on this floor,’ she said.

To Veronica, it felt like a significant improvement that Dave occasionally met her gaze, compared to Eliot who she says is almost constantly engrossed in a book. Goodness, he can be such an unapproachable character sometimes.
Dave and Veronica went out for a drink and spent the whole time giggling like naughty schoolgirls. Did something more happen off camera we weren’t told about? Social media sleuths certainly think so
The producers decided to ramp up the drama by making the brides and grooms write honesty letters to their partners, which they only thought they’d have to read out to the person they’d been swapped with.
As a devoted admirer of Carina, I couldn’t help but pour out my feelings in a heartfelt letter, expressing my true thoughts about her. To be honest, I found her to be somewhat snobbish and judgmental at times, but that didn’t stop me from being captivated by her charm. I wanted her to know the truth, even if it might hurt her feelings a little.
‘This gives me the ick,’ he wrote.
Additionally, he shared with Awhina that upon disclosing he had previously dated her sister Carina, she responded, ‘I hadn’t realized you were attracted to such a high-caliber individual.’
Awhina justifiably felt angry, while Paul assumed he had escaped consequences until he reconciled with his spouse, learning that he was required to read his letter aloud.

He left out the part about calling her a ‘snob’ and when called out by producers over the admission, a stumbling Paul played into his French background and claimed he wasn’t quite sure what the word meant.
Instead, he placed the letter on the table where Carina could find it easily, causing his wife-to-be to feel disturbed and puzzled.
True to form, Jacqui also unleashed on her husband, telling Ryan she thought he wanted a ‘tradwife’ but wasn’t ‘financially skilled’ enough to be the breadwinner.
When she questioned if he’d be happy being a stay-at-home dad, Ryan visibly recoiled and said the idea was beneath him.
He replied, “That suggestion is quite disrespectful, given my professional background as shown on LinkedIn.
Eliot and Veronica’s reunion lasted all of five minutes before she stormed out of the room.

Audience members might mistakenly believe that the letter was penned by Dave, as it seemed to be a heartfelt tribute to him and a clear act of defiance towards Eliot.
It didn’t take long for Veronica to completely lose it, screaming at her husband, ‘I want nothing to do with you, I’m not interested in pursuing anything with you. You are beneath me!’
The most surprising moment of this season occurred when Dave revealed that he doesn’t reciprocate Jamie’s feelings, despite her telling him last week that she loves him.
She opened up to Adrian about the lack of emotional closeness they had, to which he responded by implying that Dave might not be deeply interested in her.
Dave admitted as much when confronted by Jamie.
On the day of the dinner party, Jamie brought the issue up with her husband again and demanded to know where they stood.

But Dave didn’t have an answer, all but sealing the fate of their relationship.
Jamie was then left sobbing in the hotel room before rocking up to the dinner party alone.
‘Who is that man!’ she said after kicking Dave out.
‘Even if you don’t have feelings for me, you know how I feel about you and that’s how you’re going to approach it? What the f*** is wrong with him? That’s disgusting.’
I don’t despise her. I don’t feel intense dislike towards her.
At the grand dinner gathering, I found myself recounting the bewildering incident to my companions, who, much like me, seemed equally puzzled about what could have possibly gone awry.
As tensions rose during dinner, I found myself caught up in a series of exchanges between the couple, my eyes welling up with tears as their heated conversation continued. Meanwhile, Jacqui sat quietly across from me, a satisfied smile playing on her lips, momentarily escaping the usual spotlight.
However, in an unexpected turn of events, influenced by the other grooms, Dave ultimately decided to stand up and defend their marriage.
Strong words from a man who simply shrugged when asked how he thought Jamie would be feeling.
