MAFS Bride’s Heart-Wrenching Confession: ‘I Just Screamed’ as Husband Was Trampled by Horses
On January 17, KC Osborne, a bride from the show Married At First Sight, felt shocked and distressed as she witnessed her horse-riding husband, Blake Spriggs, being trampled by horses following a severe accident during a race at Moruya.
32-year-old Spriggs was airlifted off the track and quickly taken to Canberra Hospital, where he received intensive care including being placed on a ventilator and induced into a coma following severe, life-threatening injuries.
Currently, Osborne, aged 35, has shared the heart-wrenching particulars of her spouse’s recuperation with Daily Mail Australia, including the poignant phrases she uttered upon witnessing him awaken from his coma for the first time.
Speaking at home, the mother of one held her two-year-old son Brooklyn, whom she shares with Spriggs, in her arms while watching the unexpected accident unfold live on television.
She announced that she was urging her companion forward since he was about to overtake first, with only moments left, while fellow rider Beany Panyan, who had sustained a head wound and spine fracture from a fall, was also close by.
After that sudden incident, a fall occurred. I observed as Blake was crushed under a few galloping horses. It seemed to me as if he was a tumbling washing machine, with the horses relentlessly stampeding over him. My immediate response was a loud scream, according to Osborne.
In a swift effort to hide her distress, the ex-reality TV personality found herself reining in her feelings while engaging with her toddler Brooklyn. She aimed to conceal any hint of trouble, even though she had to phone her parents urgently to ask them to look after him instead.
During that four-hour span, I was completely unaware of Spriggs’ state as I made my way to the hospital. That period was particularly challenging for me. She shared that many prayers were offered at that time.
Osborne kept thinking: ‘I have to bring Blake home to his son. Brooklyn needs his daddy.’
Upon reaching the hospital, Spriggs’ medical team were quite pessimistic about her chances during the initial 48 hours following Osborne’s intubation – yet she was determined not to let go of him.
Osborne stated, “I was informed that Blake’s condition might be critical, so I advised the person, ‘You need to act quickly and do everything possible to save him, as he has a two-year-old waiting at home.’
But there were certainly moments where the influencer feared the worst might happen.
‘The first 48 hours I was thinking this could go where he doesn’t make it,’ she said.
Yet, she often repeated a personal motto to herself, helping her persevere. Spriggs would tease her by saying he was like a machine when she inquired about his methods for handling the demanding training regimen as a jockey.

When the doctors were uncertain, she would reassure herself by thinking, “Blake will make it through this ordeal. He’s like a robust machine.” She continued to offer prayers for his recovery.
Two weeks after being on a ventilator, Spriggs was brought out of the medically-induced coma he had been in. During these days, Osborne devoted time to praying for Spriggs’ recovery and raising their son.
In that very instant when I found him awake, we were exchanging thoughts on a vast expanse of white – a sight that filled my heart with immense relief. It was as if he had never been away, only embarking on a lengthy journey towards healing. This is what I shared after witnessing this momentous occasion.
In his uncertain condition upon waking, I asked him if he recognized me first, to which he affirmed. I then questioned him about Brooklyn, again receiving a confirmation. Overwhelmed, I couldn’t help but express my deep affection by saying, “I love you so much.
I asserted that I wasn’t leaving and would stay put. I continued to clasp his hand, and he reciprocated by holding mine firmly as well.
Osborne continued by expressing that it was distressing to see his loved one in such a wounded condition, yet she demonstrated remarkable resilience, gathering her strength to carry out the necessary actions to aid Spriggs in recovery.
‘When he got home I had a job to do and that was to look after him,’ she said.
Despite having a full-time schedule and caring for our two-year-old, I find myself compelled to commit the upcoming months to ensuring Blake recovers well and being present for my son at the same time.

During the sixth race, approximately 400 meters from the finish line, Spriggs fell off his horse Blesstas after they collided with the leading horse, The Boomerang. This collision occurred when Blesstas accidentally hit The Boomerang’s heels, causing both horses to stumble and fall. The injuries Spriggs sustained in this incident were severe and potentially life-threatening.
Osborne mentioned that her spouse endured multiple injuries, including fractures to all but two of his ribs, two punctured lungs, a hemorrhage close to his liver, broken shoulders, a metal plate in his arm, and a bout of pneumonia during his hospital stay.
She stated that not only was his kidney function deteriorating, necessitating dialysis, but she affectionately referred to Spriggs, who underwent another shoulder operation merely two weeks prior, as an extraordinary individual.
31-year-old rider Panyan suffered severe head injuries and two broken vertebrae during an incident involving The Boomerang. However, she’s making good progress towards a complete recovery at this point.
Both horses escaped injury in the incident, and the remaining races at the event were cancelled.
Regarding Spriggs’ progress, Osborne stated that he is recovering exceptionally well and is highly motivated to bounce back with great strength once more.
She remarked, “He’s quite full of life. His enthusiasm is palpable due to his deep affection for his physical therapy, and he’s fiercely committed to regaining his strength completely.
1. What’s left is only the mending of the fractured bones. Remarkably, he has handled the aftermath of this horrific, unexpected accident with great resilience.
2. Now it’s just about letting his broken bones heal. Amazingly, he’s been incredibly strong in coping with this terrible, bizarre accident.
3. The task now is to let his fractured bones mend. Impressively, he has shown immense strength in dealing with such a dreadful, unforeseen incident.
4. All that remains is for his broken bones to heal. Remarkably, he’s been incredibly admirable in the way he has faced and managed this terrible, unfortunate accident.
In 2024, Osborne and Spriggs secretly exchanged vows at a destination wedding, following their announcement of engagement in August 2022. This joyous news came shortly after they shared that they were expecting their first child together, only a few months prior.
During their “babymoon” in Hawaii, Spriggs proposed, and they later welcomed a baby boy named Brooklyn in October 2022.
In January 2022, events progressed rapidly for the couple, as they had their initial date following Spriggs’ decision to connect with Osborne on social media platforms. This was prompted by him observing her wedding ceremony on TV with her Married at First Sight husband Drew Brauer back in 2020.
