MAFS Bride Katie’s Bold Career Move After Disaster Match with Tim

On Sunday night, Katie Johnston, a participant from Married At First Sight, decided to end her participation in the show after her relationship with groom Tim Gromie turned out poorly.

Meanwhile, at age 37, she’s all set for her upcoming business endeavor, as her previous company was dissolved last year.

After wrapping up the filming for MAFS, Katie has been dedicating her time to develop a no-cost, self-paced online class designed to assist other women in identifying harmful characteristics within themselves and prospective partners, as reported by Yahoo Lifestyle.

A source revealed to the publication that while many are unaware, Katie holds degrees in both behavioral science and psychology, and she’s deeply committed to utilizing her personal experiences and academic knowledge to aid other women.

Daily Mail Australia has reached out to Johnston for comment.

On Sunday evening during the Commitment Ceremony, Katie decided to depart following allegations by the experts that Tim was exhibiting manipulative behavior, akin to “gaslighting 101”.

According to John Aiken, you shifted responsibility, attributed all issues to her, expressed feelings of betrayed trust, claimed to be the more truthful one between the two, and ultimately made her question her sanity,” said John Aiken.

Katie asserted her confidence in her strength, self-reliance, and deservingness of affection, prior to departing from the study permanently.

Following the exclusive report by Daily Mail Australia, it was evident that Tim unequivocally showed he had no desire for a relationship with her during off-camera moments.

Photos showed Katie sitting on a bench sipping coffee and looking downcast during filming.

Additionally, she seemed thoughtful as she strolled through the city, all by herself, at Social Society in Zetland, while wearing headphones and holding a to-go coffee cup.

An inside source confirms that Katie made every effort possible to resolve her issues with Tim, going so far as to try and foster a friendship between them, hoping they could collaborate more effectively within the experiment to extend their stay.

The source disclosed to Daily Mail Australia that Katie didn’t merely attend; rather, she genuinely made an effort. Her intention was not solely for fame, but also to seek advice and explore whether Married at First Sight could steer her onto a more suitable life path.

In my heart, I yearned for something authentic, not just a fairy tale. I entered with hope, hoping for a chance at the genuine. Yet, he stubbornly denied me that chance.

As reported by the source, Tim had withdrawn from the experiment prematurely and showed no inclination whatsoever in trying to establish a bond with his partner, who was referred to as his bride.

He was harsh. It wasn’t merely a lack of physical attraction towards her; it felt as if he had no desire to be in her presence at all, they noted.

In front of the camera, they hardly exchanged words. She’d try to initiate discussions, yet he’d merely nod, seeming to follow along. However, it was evident that his mind was elsewhere, suggesting he didn’t truly focus on their conversation.

Katie, who had a lot of expectations from the social experiment, seemed very upset when she learned about Tim’s lack of interest in it.

According to the source, she was eager to make it work and prepared to adapt. She suggested, if a romantic relationship wasn’t possible, they might as well collaborate as friends and explore what could come from that. However, he refused even this option.

In my line of work, I often share insights about relationships, and this story with Tim and Katie is one worth mentioning. At their wedding, I noticed a moment where Tim seemed to flinch at Katie’s touch – it was almost as if the connection they had expected wasn’t quite there for him. Later on, in a heart-to-heart conversation with the production team, he admitted that she wasn’t the person he had envisioned himself with – simply put, she wasn’t his ideal match.

As the days passed, Katie found herself having to handle the situation alone, as his hesitance grew stronger, making it impossible for her to rely on him.

The informant stated that she believed everything was going against her, hoping it might mark a new beginning, but unfortunately, she found herself in an even more disheartened state.

In spite of a rocky start, they pushed through and enjoyed their honeymoon at Tasmania’s Cradle Mountain, where the discomfort continued.

On another occasion, Tim stirred up strong criticism, as spectators labeled him “impolite” and “poorly behaved,” following an insensitive comment he made about Katie that left many people shocked.

– The well-known figure, often debated among audiences, casually made a remark that sparked a frenzy on social platforms. Some devotees went as far as suggesting he should be excluded from the program.

This month, it came to light that Johnston’s social enterprise company is carrying a significant debt of approximately $450,000. Among this debt is unpaid retirement funds owed to their staff members.

Records from the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC) reveal that Wild The Lifestyle Co Pty Ltd, under the leadership of Katie Johnston, was declared bankrupt on June 28 of the previous year.

Throughout her stint on the program, Johnston characterized her role as heading a social enterprise network of eateries, where a portion of the earnings is dedicated to assisting those in need, providing them with emergency food and temporary shelter when necessary.

In southeast Queensland, there’s a well-known group called EATS that operates several restaurants. On the Sunshine Coast, management of the eateries located in Eumundi and Sunshine Plaza was handled by Wild the Lifestyle Co.

Despite the closure of Wild the Lifestyle Co, Johnston, who’s associated with EATS (Empowering All Through Support), has not been implicated in any misconduct. EATS continues to function and thrive.

According to the liquidator’s report, the company owed $493,927 when it collapsed.

In total, there were three outstanding debts: $150,709 for an unpaid superannuation fund, $190,980 owed to the tax department, and a loan balance of $141,174 with Mercedes Benz Financial Services for two cars – specifically, a 2020 Mercedes Benz GLE300D and a 2017 Mercedes-Benz SLC200.

As a devoted follower, I’ve been keeping track of recent developments, and I must share that after EATS Eumundi was liquidated, it was acquired by EATS Nambour Pty Ltd, another company under the ownership of Ms Johnston. Unfortunately, EATS Sunshine Plaza had to close its operations.

Ms Johnston said she intended to repay the money.

Ms Johnston informed The Sunshine Coast Daily that ‘The repayment plan is functioning, and it remains stable. The Covid-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact on numerous businesses and is still causing hardship, as many people grapple with rising living costs and widespread business closures.’

The team continues to manage eateries at Carindale, Kawana, Pacific Fair, and Eumundi respectively.

Among the causes it donates money to are poverty stricken communities in Peru.

In 2021, Ms. Johnston was among the top contenders for the “Young Business Woman of the Year” award, which was organized by the Sunshine Coast Women’s Business Network.
