MAFS 2025: Meet the groom who won’t settle for ‘low class partners’ – and he’s already dividing fans with his unapologetic attitude
As a lifestyle expert with over two decades of experience, I must say that Eliot Donovan seems to be a fascinating character, albeit a bit too confident for his own good. His stringent list of non-negotiables and high expectations remind me a little too much of Goldilocks – everything has to be ‘just right’.
2025’s season of “Married At First Sight” is fast approaching, and one of the grooms has sparked a buzz on social media well ahead of the premiere.
Introducing Eliot Donovan, a gentleman who humorously refers to himself as a “catch,” and whose list of romantic no-gos is more extensive than many grocery lists.
In a tantalizing sneak peek before the upcoming season, Eliot openly shared his stringent criteria for love, refusing to compromise on certain matters.
Fans have been pondering if any individual could meet the high expectations set by Eliot, as he appears to reject potential partners for reasons such as being too vocal or ambitious in their careers.
‘Friends would definitely describe me as too confident for my own good,’ Eliot said in the clip.
‘I wouldn’t even entertain a relationship with someone I saw as low class. And if I feel nothing on my wedding day, I won’t even finish the ceremony. It’d be like, mic off, see ya.’

Eliot’s bold, unfazed demeanor has drawn comparisons to some contentious personalities from previous seasons on the show.
Supporters have flooded social media platforms, with one spectator remarking, “He’s won me over due to the excitement, but I hope his future spouse has good fortune.
‘Watch him get matched with someone exactly like that,’ a second chimed.
Another wasn’t so forgiving, writing, ‘Does this guy think he’s Prince Harry? Pipe down, mate.’
Eliot, a native of the Gold Coast, is well-known for his affection towards canines, often posting pictures of his beloved pets online.
Daily Mail Australia reports that Eliot’s experience on MAFS 2025 has been marked by numerous ups and downs.
At first, he was partnered with Lauren Hall, who is the CEO from Queensland and a past girlfriend of the previous “Married at First Sight” groom named Jono McCullough.
Instead, it’s said that Eliot departed from the experiment mere hours following the wedding ceremony, explaining his departure by expressing a sense of disconnection with Lauren.

It’s said that everyone on set was taken aback by his sudden exit, as those close to the situation characterized his actions as unprofessional.
Later on, there’s an unexpected turn of events when Eliot reappears on the program, but finds out that Lauren was paired with another contestant instead.
An insider revealed, ‘He’s back to clear his name but isn’t apologetic about his behaviour.
It’s clear that he and Lauren didn’t suit each other well, and he remains firm in his decision to end their relationship.
Married At First Sight will premiere Monday, January 27 on Channel Nine
