Mae Whitman welcomes a baby boy and names him after her ‘Parenthood’ co-star
As a lover of heartwarming stories and a dedicated fan of Mae Whitman since her days on “Parenthood,” I am overjoyed to witness this new chapter in her life. The fact that she named her child after Miles Heizer, her on-screen brother, adds a delightful touch of continuity to their shared history. It’s as if the TV family they portrayed has transcended the screen and become real.
“Parenthood” alum Mae Whitman is now a real-life parent.
On a Wednesday announcement, the actress revealed that she had just welcomed her firstborn into the world, who shares a name with her TV compatriot and on-screen sibling, Miles Heizer, from their shared NBC series.
In a playful manner reminiscent of Justin Bieber’s recent announcement about their son, Miles, Whitman wrote on Instagram: “I’m not trying to be overly excited like Bieber, but I too have just welcomed our newborn into the world. The ‘DUFF’ star posted a heartwarming image of baby Miles grasping onto an adult finger with his tiny toes.”
“From the moment we heard the first tiny sound out of his tiny piggy mouth we were besotted. He is the kindest, gentlest, smartest, funniest little beebee and he’s our best friend (pretty much exactly like his namesake Uncle Miles),” Whitman wrote. “We are infinitely grateful he chose us as his parents.”
36-year-old Whitman declined to provide more information regarding the infant or his potential fatherhood. A representative for the actor failed to provide a response Thursday when The Times sought additional comments.
The actress from “Arrested Development” and “Good Girls,” Whitman, expressed gratitude towards her doula and the medical team for helping deliver Miles safely, as well as for their gentle and graceful guidance during the unforeseen ups and downs. Moreover, she thanked everyone in her circle for their exceptional generosity and support, expressing her love and joy.
In May, the child actress and voiceover artist shared her pregnancy news, with Heizer and their TV mother, Lauren Graham, assisting. The two have remained in contact since the “Parenthood” series ended in 2015 after a six-season run, having been based on Ron Howard’s 1989 film of the same name. (The show shared the same title as the movie.)
“On Mother’s Day this year, things are changing a bit… I can hardly wait to meet you, little one! You’ve been quite active inside me lately!” (Whitman posted on Instagram along with a picture of Heizer and Graham, without implying the event as a ‘parenthood episode’)
