Made In Chelsea Star’s Fertility Struggles

She welcomed her first child with her husband James Dunmore in March 2024.

Approximately a year into her experience as a new mom, Lucy Watson, who was previously on Made In Chelsea and is now 34 years old, recently shared her difficulties in conceiving her son Willoughby on the Happy Mum Happy Baby podcast.

While conversing with host Giovanna Fletcher, Lucy disclosed that she was taken aback by the length of time it took for her to conceive.

She confessed: “On average, a couple needs about a year to conceive. I had assumed it would only take two or three months. When attempting to get pregnant, each month seems like an entire year.

‘Some friends may become parents easily on their first attempt, while others may struggle with fertility problems.’

She remembered thinking: “My companions and I are incredibly transparent about everything. I was likely among the last to begin exploring this.

It turns out that more than half of my friends have experienced their first or even second instance, with about half finding it relatively effortless, while the other half faced considerable challenges.

Lucy added: ‘Instead of approaching it with a negative mindset, thinking “I’m sure this will be difficult,” I went in with an open mind, acknowledging the possibility that it might turn out in any direction.’

It seems reasonable that my eagerness for tests and checks arose from six months of unsuccessful attempts. In other words, I felt the need to confirm everything was alright, as any delay might extend for several years. So, I thought, “Let me make sure everything is fine, because if it isn’t, it could take years.

The reality star then went on to describe her fertility tests as ‘invasive’ and ‘not enjoyable’.

In every consultation I attended, I found myself on the receiving end of some less-than-positive remarks or feedback, which naturally left an impact on me.

During that period, I found myself experiencing immense distress. There were numerous moments of tears, self-pity, and questioning why such hardships had fallen upon me. Looking back now, I can see that it was a significant journey for me, though at the time, I couldn’t foresee its true nature.

Last March, Lucy informed her audience that she had given birth to her first baby, but she decided to keep his name a secret initially.

Instead of posting it directly, she decided to upload a heartwarming, monochrome photo on Instagram, where she’s holding the newly born baby and her husband, James, is giving her a gentle peck on the forehead.

Lucy captioned the heartwarming post: ‘He’s here [heart emoji] 2/3/24’

Her admirers and companions swiftly offered their well wishes, with her sister Tiffany expressing: “My lovely niece, he is deeply cherished by us.

In September 2023, the influencer shared the news of her pregnancy with their first child while posing with her spouse, James, during their vacation in Mykonos.

In one of my recent posts, I proudly displayed my growing belly, sharing the exciting news that my former on-screen partner and I are welcoming a ‘little miracle’ into our lives. After a three-year journey filled with hope and determination, we’ve finally conquered the challenges of conceiving.

Lucy made public her engagement to James in September 2020, having first crossed paths with him on the E4 set of Made In Chelsea back in 2015.

In the summer of 2021, the previous TV personalities exchanged vows at a charming wedding in Kefalonia, Greece.

In early January, Lucy posted photos of her growing belly without any clothing, proudly demonstrating how significantly it had expanded over the past three months.

During her eighth month of pregnancy, Lucy shared a recent photo of her baby bump, taken in a full-length mirror.

She looked at the current image alongside one taken three months earlier and was astonished by the remarkable transformation and the ways in which a woman’s body undergoes changes during pregnancy, leaving her utterly amazed.

Approximately three months ago, back in October, Lucy and James posted pictures from their gender reveal party that happened in September. The photos revealed they were expecting a baby boy.

As an enthusiastic follower, I happily posted heartwarming snaps from my memorable gender reveal event, where I celebrated with my dearest friends and relatives. Excitedly, I shared this special moment on Instagram, beaming with joy as I anticipate having a little boy who will be close in age to my dear nephew Jude, son of my cherished sister Tiffany Watson.

During a delightful gathering celebrating their baby’s gender, the expectant mother stood alongside Tiffany and Jude for a charming photograph. These two are her children, shared with her spouse Cameron McGeehan.

In a tiny, charming outfit that said, “Even though I’m small, I’ll grow up to be a big cousin,” Tiffany’s son appeared incredibly cute.

Yesterday, I shared my heartwarming gender reveal moment on Instagram and was truly touched by the outpouring of love and support from all of you. I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for your thoughtful messages – they mean more to me than words can say.

She wrote: “I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for all the beautiful messages you’ve sent. We are absolutely thrilled about our newborn son… ready to embrace motherhood with enthusiasm!

‘Here are some more pics from the (very) mini gender reveal we did last month…’
