After 15 years together, the country duo Maddie & Tae—Madison Marlow Font and Taylor Dye Kerr—are taking a break. It’s a turning point in their career, and they’ve decided to pursue separate paths, at least for now.
Both women, who are 30 years old, shared the news with People magazine on Monday. Kerr admitted the decision was “truly heartbreaking,” and Font explained they’d been keeping it a secret for months, which had been difficult.

It’s tough to imagine going through a breakup in the public eye, and unfortunately, that’s exactly what Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban are doing. Sources have confirmed to The Times that the couple has separated.
Font is starting a solo music career, and Kerr plans to focus on raising their two young children and supporting her husband, Josh Kerr, a Grammy-winning songwriter and producer.
Despite any professional changes, Font and the other singer are staying positive and focusing on their friendship. Font expressed excitement about prioritizing their bond and raising their children together, emphasizing that their personal connection remains strong.
The duo have been incredibly close since they were teenagers, according to Kerr, who has a three-year-old daughter and a thirteen-month-old son. They achieved their first success at nineteen, after moving to Tennessee from Texas and Oklahoma. Now, after releasing four albums, Kerr shared with People that she appreciates being able to spend more time with her family, as she’s lost some of her passion for touring and performing.
Fantasia, who shares a 2-year-old son with her husband, Jonah, explained she needs to earn income. She’s currently working on new music expected to be released next year, blending elements of gospel, R&B, and soul.

Miley Cyrus and Maxx Morando are getting married! The couple, who have been dating for four years, are now engaged.
And the good friends definitely plan to keep in touch.
Font explained to People that they’re intentionally keeping their options open for the future. They haven’t ruled out the possibility of recording another album or going on tour again someday.
Kerr told the outlet, “Absolutely.”
But for now, Font noted, “it doesn’t feel aligned for us to do it together.”
