Mackenyu talks voice acting for Gennojo in Assassin’s Creed Shadows: “He’s a thief, a troublemaker who robs the rich and powerful and sleeps with everyone.”
Which actor lends their voice to the charming rogue in Assassin’s Creed Syndicate? The following insights are from the actor who brings Gennojo to life!
As the release date for Assassin’s Creed Shadows approaches, several voice actors have been discussing their part in the game before it hits stores. One such actor is Mackenyu, who voices Gennojo in the game. Here’s what he had to share about his role and other aspects of the project.
Mackenyu voices Gennojo in Assassin’s Creed Shadows
As a devotee of the gaming world, I’m thrilled to share that Mackenyu, the talented Japanese actor, is lending his voice to Gennojo in Assassin’s Creed Shadows. What makes this role even more captivating is that he brings Gennojo to life in not one, but two languages – English and Japanese! In a recent chat, Mackenyu himself painted Gennojo as a character with layers, a touch reckless, incredibly charismatic, and oozing swagger. Interestingly, during our school days in middle school, Mackenyu and his pals would lose themselves in the immersive world of Assassin’s Creed together!
In an interview with Crunchyroll, Mackenyu expressed his excitement about being in a game set in Japan when he said, “As soon as I learned it was taking place there, I couldn’t wait to join.” The discussion then shifted towards Mackenyu’s role as Zoro in the One Piece live-action series. During the interview, Mackenyu mentioned that his favorite anime include One Piece, Hunter x Hunter, and Bleach; however, he’s currently only watching One Piece.
Who is Gennojo in Assassin’s Creed Shadows?
In the game Assassin’s Creed Shadows, at the time of its release, Gennojo is a captivating character who can join the Shinobi League under the leadership of either Fujibayashi Naoe or Yasuke. There seems to be an attraction between Gennojo and Naoe, as he appreciates the challenges that Naoe presents him with.
In a video shared by Ubisoft, Mackenyu portrayed Gennojo as a charismatic character who is both a thief and a mischievous troublemaker, targeting the wealthy and influential while also being involved with many people. Interestingly, beneath this playboy facade lies a broken heart, and he has a tendency to overindulge in sake.
Later, Mackenyu explained to Variety that Gennojo plays a crucial role by assisting the main characters in locating and neutralizing their objectives.
