Machine Gun Kelly says his daughter Casie, 15, convinced him to stop using drugs: ‘That was step one for me’

Machine Gun Kelly says his daughter Casie, 15, convinced him to stop using drugs: 'That was step one for me'

As a fellow admirer of this remarkable artist, Machine Gun Kelly (MGK), I have always been captivated by his raw talent and unapologetic spirit. However, reading about his transformative journey towards sobriety, I am left in awe and profound respect for the man behind the music.

Machine Gun Kelly stated that his choice to quit using drugs was prompted following a heartfelt conversation with his daughter, Casie, about his drug usage issues.

In simpler terms, the 34-year-old individual known professionally as a musician and actor, whose birth name is Colson Baker, has a 15-year-old daughter named Casie with his former partner, Emma Cannon.

On the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast, MGK shared that Casie, who was approximately 11 to 12 years old at the time, confided in him about his drug use.

The Lonely Road artist expressed, ‘My daughter commented, “Dad, I can sense when you’re under the influence,” which struck a chord in me deeply. It was an incredibly disappointing moment.’

Ever since Casie shared her concerns about my drug use with me, it took me some time afterwards to embrace the transformations required for a sober living. You see, the hold of drugs on you is undeniable and powerful.

The Rap Devil artist said of the confrontation with Casie, ‘That was step one for me.’

He stated: ‘In order to be the kind of father I wish my father had been, and as a man, I need to end this generations-long family pattern, for the sake of my child.’

MGK, who is currently in a relationship with actress Megan Fox (aged 38), shared an Instagram post on July 24th to celebrate his daughter’s 15th birthday. The post included a photo from her recent birthday party as well as some snapshots captured over the years.

‘The world spins but when i look at you it stops,’ MGK said in the caption of the post.

Earlier this month, MGK marked his first year of sobriety during an appearance on the podcast Dumb Blonde with Bunnie XO.

On his August 5 podcast, the musician expressed that after spending time in rehab, he has been entirely abstaining from all substances.

As a lifestyle enthusiast, I’ve made a conscious choice to avoid alcohol consumption. In my own words, I can say, “I’ve chosen to give up alcohol, it’s been since last August that I last had a drink.”

MGK announced that following the completion of his European tour last year, he chose to enter a rehabilitation facility, keeping this decision private and only sharing it with his closest confidants.

He added: ‘That was my first time I ever went to rehab. They just gave me so many ways to operate the body and show where this anger is coming from and methods to quell it.’

The performer shared accounts of his encounters with mental health specialists: ‘I had numerous sessions with psychiatrists, quite a few of whom lost hope in me, and multiple therapists who felt the same.’

‘But I ended up falling into an awareness of what my condition is and have made peace with it. It’s a constant tightrope walk.’

Visibly, the musician admitted using substances like alcohol, marijuana, and prescription drugs.
