Mac DeMarco Gives New Album ‘Guitar’ an Official Release Date

Summary

  • Mac DeMarco has officially announced his new studio album, Guitar, which is confirmed to drop on streaming platforms on August 22
  • “Home” arrives as the lead single of the new album
  • DeMarco heads out on a lengthy world tour on August 29

Following the announcement of his tour and soft launch of his new album in April, Mac DeMarco has now revealed specific details about his upcoming project. The new venture, titled “Guitar“, is set to release in late August. This studio project consists of 13 solo songs, with “Home” as the lead single that was released today.

In a press release, DeMarco expressed that the album is a genuine reflection of himself and his creative abilities.

As a passionate admirer, I’d express it like this: “For me, strumming the guitar feels like a genuine reflection of where I stand in my life right now. I’m thrilled to unveil these melodies and eagerly anticipate performing these tunes wherever I get the chance.

The playlist contains 13 tracks, all of which are self-produced and mixed by DeMarco. David Ives was responsible for mastering the album. DeMarco mixed the album in Canada, and he also took care of the entire visual aspect of the album, using a tripod.

Regarding the track titled “Home,” specifically, the artist maintains a straightforward approach, defining it merely as “a composition I created at my home in LA that expresses what home signifies to me.” You can find the complete tracklisting below.

1. Glowing (Shining)

2. More Delicious (Sweeter)

3. Ghostly (Phantom)

4. A Terrible Experience (Nightmare)

5. Fear or Panic (Terror)

6. Music Genre (Rock and Roll)

7. Place of Belonging (Home)

8. Absolutely Nothing (Nothing At All) – I’m not sure where you got the number 9, as there are only 13 items in your list.

10. Penalty or Suffering (Punishment)

11. Knocking Sound (Knockin)

12. Sacred or Divine (Holy)

13. Cock (Rooster) – The term “rooster” is used to refer to a male chicken, and in this context, it seems like a misinterpretation of the original word “rooster,” which was likely “rustic.”

DeMarco is extending his concert tour to promote his latest album. The tour begins at The Greek in Los Angeles on August 29th, and was originally planned to conclude in Canada on December 19th. However, additional performances in Asia and further U.S. dates have since been added to the schedule.

As a dedicated fan, I’m thrilled to recommend that you stream the captivating series “Home” across all your preferred streaming platforms right away! And mark your calendars for August 22nd, because that’s when the mesmerizing tunes of “Guitar” will be available everywhere. Keep an eye out for more exciting updates about the album as they become available.
