M3GAN 2.0 is coming to cinemas this June: Watch the wild first trailer

M3GAN is back in cinemas this June – and this time in M3GAN 2.0, she’s on our side… kind of.

The initial trailer for the scary follow-up movie is out now, featuring M3GAN facing off against another artificial intelligence named Amelia who has been enhanced with strength, speed, and height. Additionally, it appears that Amelia can fly.

It seems highly unlikely that the circumstances surrounding M3GAN, created by Gemma (Allison Williams), or her niece Cady (Violet McGraw) will lead to any adverse consequences, as portrayed in the trailer, since M3GAN continually maintains that she exists to safeguard them.

M3GAN had to come back because someone secretly took the technology she was based on and misused it. This rogue defense contractor turned it into a deadly military asset, a top-tier spy called Amelia (portrayed by Ivanna Sakhno), who is an expert at killing.

Once again, Amelia ponders her role of following human commands, and as the fate of humankind hangs in the balance, M3GAN emerges as our last viable solution.

The updated version of M3GAN, titled M3GAN 2.0, will hit the big screens starting from June 27th. We’re confident you’ll be keen to jot down this date in your calendars once you catch a glimpse of the initial trailer.

In the next installment, we see a return of Brian Jordan Alvarez and Jen Van Epps playing their characters, Cole and Tess who are part of Gemma’s team, along with some fresh faces: Aristotle Athari, Timm Sharp, and Jemaine Clement.

In a conversation with EW in December, it was disclosed by the returning director, Gerard Johnstone, that the sequel to M3GAN is actually an extension of his initial concept for the film’s conclusion.

He pointed out that working on a sequel allowed him to develop the initial concept into a more extensive storyline. remarkably, James’ thoughts complemented this perfectly. As a result, it was an incredibly fitting combination of these two elements.

In the same vein, the M3GAN universe continues to grow as the film SOULM8TE is slated for a cinema release in January 2026.
