M3GAN 2.0 gets exciting filming update

As a huge fan of the M3GAN franchise, I couldn’t be more excited about the upcoming release of M3GAN 2.0! The news that production has officially started is music to my ears. I remember how eagerly I waited for the first movie, and it exceeded all my expectations. Allison Williams’ brilliant performance as Gemma, coupled with the innovative special effects and gripping storyline, left me wanting more.

We finally have some good news about M3GAN 2.0, the sequel to 2022’s hugely successful M3GAN.

The follow-up movie, revealed shortly after the first one premiered, originally planned for a January 17, 2025 release in theaters, but was eventually moved to May 16 instead.

I’m thrilled to share that the wheels are in motion now! Blumhouse Production announced on Twitter with a post, “It’s time for me to get back together. We’ve started week one of filming the principal scenes for M3GAN!”

Instead, Deadline has announced that the movie’s premiere is now scheduled for June 27, 2025, extending the wait for viewers by an additional month.

In the sequel, we have Allison Williams back as Gemma and Violet McGraw reprising her role as Cady. Brian Jordan Alvarez joins them once again as Cole, and Jen Van Epps makes her return as Tess. Jenna Davis will continue to provide the voice for M3GAN.

New members to the production include Timm Sharp, Aristotle Athari, and the famous comedian Jemaine Clement from “Flight of the Conchords.”

Akela Cooper will pen the screenplay for the upcoming project, while Gerard Johnstone will take the helm as its director once more.

In the original film, Lena Waithe from “Girls” didn’t only act as Gemma but also took on the role of an executive producer.

Last January, Williams shared with Digital Spy her delight in both performing and contributing behind-the-scenes to the film. She expressed, “It felt great to have an essential role in the production right from the start.”

Based on my personal experiences, I strongly believe that being deeply involved in a project can lead to great rewards and satisfaction. However, there are certain situations where involvement goes beyond the usual boundaries, like when one possesses a credit that grants special access. Such was the case for me in this instance.

Ever since I’ve had the opportunity to produce movies, I’ve grown deeply fond of the intricate details that go into bringing a story to life on the big screen. The process, from concept to completion, is nothing short of fascinating and wonderful to me. Therefore, it might be challenging for me to step back and simply act in a movie without being involved in its production. My experience as a producer has ignited a passion within me that goes beyond just performing on camera.
