m0NESY joins Falcons ahead of Austin Major

“The Baby Goat” makes his move from G2 with m0NESY joining NiKo once more.

The long-awaited news has been made official: Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov is now officially part of the Falcons team. This well-known Russian AWPer has joined the Saudi-backed organization as of April 14. For weeks, there were rumors and hints that were gradually verified; first by those in the know, then by the G2 camp themselves.

For G2 Esports, it presents both a significant inheritance and a complex challenge as they proceed without their standout player and one of the top performers globally, m0NESY, at the Austin Major. On the other hand, Falcons are shaping up to be a formidable force for the June peak event.

m0NESY links back up with NiKo at Falcons

On April 14th, it was officially confirmed through a video posted by the Falcons’ social media team. Known as “The Baby Goat,” m0NESY will now represent the Saudi organization in future events. The Russian marksman is set to make his debut with the Falcons at IEM Sydney next week, and then they’ll start preparing for the Austin Major.

In the upcoming change, Abdulkhalik “degster” Gasanov, who had a successful and MVP-winning stint with the Falcons during PGL Bucharest, will be replaced. At this event, the Falcons triumphed over G2 in a 3-0 sweep in the grand final. Following this victory, m0NESY announced that his time with G2 had come to an end.

He expressed his gratitude to those who stood by him and G2 throughout our journey. This experience has given me strength and the people involved will remain etched in my memory. They were like a team, a second family to me. I am thankful for all that you have done.

It hasn’t been announced who the fifth member of Group 2 will be, but Degster still appears to be a viable candidate. His impressive performances in Romania recently have kept him on the radar of leading teams as the major event gets closer.

Back with my old buddy Nikola “NiKo” Kovač at Falcons now, as m0NESY! We’ve got history together, having been teammates at G2, where we played a significant role in propelling the organization into the current era by bagging six top-tier titles, including the esteemed ESL double of IEM Katowice and IEM Cologne in 2023.

It was whispered that M0NESY might reunite with NiKo as early as 2024, even though offers for the Russian AWPer were turned down by G2 towards the end of the season. Since he signed with G2 until the end of 2025, it’s speculated that the potential record-breaking purchase price will be more than six figures.

Falcons’ CS2 squad is now:

  • Emil “Magisk” Reif
  • Nikola “NiKo” Kovač
  • René “TeSeS” Madsen
  • Damjan “kyxsan” Stoilkovski (C)
  • Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov
  • Danny “zonic” Sørensen (coach)
