Luther’s Ruth Wilson lands new role in exciting project

The all-star cast, the iconic play, and the legendary Almeida Theatre – it’s a dream come true for any theater enthusiast.
Luther star Ruth Wilson has landed an exciting new theatre role.
The performer is poised to team up with Kingsley Ben-Adir of Barbie and Daisy Edgar-Jones, known for Normal People, in a fresh stage adaptation of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. This production will be staged from December 10, 2024, through February 1, 2025, at the Almeida Theatre in London.
The renowned Tennessee Williams drama revolves around the affluent Pollitt clan, who come together for a birthday party. However, underlying conflicts surface and hidden truths unveil as the event unfolds.
Starting from September 27, tickets will be available for purchase for the play that Rebecca Frecknall is directing.
Additional actors in the production are Guy Burgess, Clare Burt, Seb Carrington, Lennie James (from “The Walking Dead”), Ukweli Roach, Ria Zmitrowicz (“The Power”) and Derek Hagen.
Currently, you can find Wilson in the latest drama “A Very Royal Scandal” on Prime Video. This series became available on their platform just yesterday, that is, on September 19th.
The three-part drama retreads the BBC’s explosive Newsnight interview with Prince Andrew, who is played by Michael Sheen, while Wilson takes on the role of Emily Maitlis.
While conversing with Digital Spy, Wilson shared about her metamorphosis into Maitlis: “It was an enjoyable experience, and I found it fascinating to work on her voice, striving to capture a version of that unique and intriguing tone she possesses.
As a gamer, stepping into the shoes of a public figure was uncharted territory for me, unlike Michael Sheen who’s been there countless times. Given my limited experience in this realm, I eagerly accepted the challenge and job opportunity as an exciting new level to conquer.
In addition, Wilson visited Maitlis at her podcast studio and was granted an interview. She referred to this encounter as her most fear-inducing experience.
